Why does the red line start from the bottom right corner of the vertical squares down but the blue does not.
Good spot. If the blue line was to be perpendicular by the defender's arm instead of his hip then it wouldn't be offside!

The progression of Poch does seem to have hit a wall.

He started off working on the press and getting players up to speed with his aggressive approach.

Then he worked on mentality and making us never give in.

Then he abandoned some of the press to manage games better and I was in favour of it.

From the tail end of the 17/18 season we started to throw caution to the wind and the end of both Dembele and Wanyama meant he set us out to be a bit more open.

The problem is previously if we weren't at our best we'd squeeze a 1-0 win, draw or very rarely lose 1-0. Now we get these open affairs in which it can go either way.

Even at home where we completely dominate the ball we face too many shots.

I do think there is some validity in the thoughts he may be a little lost, thinking he's knowing what he's doing but isn't or confusing the players with too many commands.
Agree. He needs to get back to basics.

Var happened, it lifted the Leicester players and the crowd and we were a bit deflated which was enough to change the course of the game. Imo
Or we are now just a weak side that gives away leads for fun!
We haven’t won away since January and that’s three in four we have chucked away 3 points.
Maybe VAR today but I think it’s more than that right now.

Starting with who knows our best formation and lineup ?

The major issue for me is the lack of effort and desire. Is that mentality or fitness or attitude or a combination of all three?

Either way, it's been obvious for some time that things are not right. The manager has made his decisions and the results are there for all to see. We've had some very good days, but the current trend is strongly negative. Can he turn it around? I hope so, but it's going to be a hell of a challenge.

Right now, it doesn't seem as if he knows his best team or formation. He's messed with the heads of some key players - e.g. his treatment of Vertonghen earlier this season - and he's been stubborn with some of his decisions. Again, why is Wanyama even on the bench today?

And increasingly, he's appearing to be much more manipulative in his dealings with the media. Ever since his 'need to be brave' and 'maybe with someone else' messages back in 2017, he has continually sought to shift the emphasis away from him and onto others.

He needs to take ownership of this situation now. He needs to change the behaviours (or attitude or mentality or whatever you want to call it) and he needs to start getting the best out of the players he has at his disposal. That is not happening at the present time - and hasn't happened for the majority of the last 9+ months.
In short, as we have no leader on the pitch it's down to him to lead the team.

Agree mate the excuses don't wash not that they did for me but some were brain washed by it, VAR had nothing to do with it this team is weak and cannot see out games when in control it's poor from manager and player's and equally poor from fan's believing these excuses.

There should be a time limit on these offside decisions because you can usually determine them very quickly but these ones where they have to zoom in, take frames from ridiculous points are often open to interpretation.

I wonder if they should just add a line where the defenders foot is and ask "Is the attacker clearly 5cm (or so) ahead of the line?" - they could add a second line in to show this. If not, forget it, don't waste any time trying to determine if he's 1mm ahead at what could be the wrong point.
I think they should mark the defender's line and the forward's line and if they touch it's too close to call and the benefit of doubt goes to the forward.

There is something wrong behind then scenes. A guy at work said this could all go a bit Arsene Wenger, maybe Poch has done all he can and it will all go stale. Im not sure I agree with per say but we are not looking good at all right now and we haven't been for awhile.

Simply put; if we harnessed that energy and fight from the Chelsea game when Leicester won the league we wouldn't be in this position,I have seen Dier clean out Hazard and bury Ramos ,make him Captain and quite fucking about Poch !!

I agree on Dier. Not in the top 11 skilled players but one of those guys that contributes to making a team better.
We used to be a team greater than the sum of the parts, right now we’re a bunch of individuals just thrown onto the pitch each week with no clear plan, structure or cohesion.

Got to pick the best team and stop forcing individuals out there to the detriment to the team.

For me it would be a team that best serves Harry Kane.
Even if Son is the second best individual at the club, he sits if he doesn’t make Kane tick. Bit extreme that but point stands

Wenger won stuff before it got stale though.

We have gone soft in terms of being physically stronger and fitter than other teams, we aren’t any more
And the players don’t keep their discipline and shape
This has been going on for ages now

Assuming Poch gets fired or he resigns, who should be the next manager in line? Allegri? Poisonous Mourinho?

Kane's a leader Lloris is a leader and I'd even put Winks as a leader when fit Dier's a leader. I do agree with one post stating Pochettinho doesn't quite know his strongest team injuries have curtailed that. Plus Levy hasn't learned lessons from past dealings on players wanting out. We should of sold players quicker so to recycle

We didn't play that badly yesterday against a good Leicester side away from home, which isn't a massive surprise since we have very good players in our squad.

However, we definitely look like a side that lacks that extra 5% - 10%, which motivation, tactics and unity bring.

Unfortunately, that's where the coach comes in; it's his job to squeeze that extra 5% - 10% out of the team and make it more than the sum of its parts.

I could be wrong, but in my opinion I think things will come to a head this season and Poch won't be our manager for 20/21.

If that does happen then it'll be disappointing because it would have been totally avoidable and down to Poch changing winning tactics and formations, being too stubborn in the transfer market and ultimately going from a happy motivator to a sullen demotivator.

Oh well, I guess that's football...and anyway, how many coaches leave their club on a high? Not many.
