Not sure about that.

King is in the top 5 players in his position in the world where as none of the others are.

I think Bale will be at that level with a bit more time and I think Mods, VDV and Ade are about the same level and are unlikely to really improve much more. VDV is class, have no doubts, he is just playing in a team that relies very heavily on him. If he was able to stay further forward and still get the ball he would score even more goals but would also create. As it is, he drops deep because he never gets the bloody ball.

I would put Modric in the top 5 CM in the world without a doubt.

He had a couple of dodgy moments today but is still a class above. Hopefully he'll be fit for liverpool at home.

Considering he's barely played in the past year. Considering he's just returned from some serious knee surgery again. Considering he doesn't train much.

Considering all that.

Then he puts in performances like that. It's not fucking fair! Why couldn't he have been born with two top quality knees?!

We would have had the pleasure of knowing we would have produced one of the finest centre backs of all time. Sure, he would have moved on and won every major honour with Man Utd, or whoever. But we'd have got some good years out of him too, not just sporadic moments of defensive genius.

What a player. What a crying shame.

A non-injury plagued Woodgate and King would've quite possibly been the greatest central defensive partnership in the world.

It is a huge shame for both players, for Spurs, for England and for football itself that two such incredibly talented players had to be ravaged with injuries for a large part of their careers.

I actually thought he was extremely average today. Yet there's something about him just being on the pitch that makes us a better team defensively, despite the fact he had one of his poorer games for us (completely understandably). His presence is everything to us and once he gets a couple of games hopefully under his belt, he'll be back to awesomeness in no time.

I'd rather an unfit King playing than a completely fit *next best* defender. That's how good he is.

Honestly, King was not that great today- he looked a bit shaky on the ball and especially passing with his left foot. Mistimed a couple challenges too.

BUT- I felt so sure with him at the back! And so did Kaboul- he looked so much better than he did with Dawson. It's just a case of King being so above everyone else that even when he plays without match-fitness or when he isn't sharp he still improves the team incredibly. Good job Ledley.

I hope he stays fit throughout the season. If so, we should give him a new contract and play Caulker alongside King next season. King would be the best tutor that Caulker will need.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...g-boss-Jol-says-Spurs-defender-best-seen.html

Hamburg boss Martin Jol has passed on a word of advice to Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp: That Ledley is King.

The well-liked Dutchman is in no hurry to quit the Bundesliga for a return to the Premier League, having landed on his feet in the north German port city.

Despite being linked with jobs at Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland, Jol is quite content to oversee HSV's rise to prominence after his spell at White Hart Lane ended in such an undignified fashion.

Simply the best: Martin Jol insists Ledley King is the best defender he has seen

Jol maintained his integrity and clearly still has a soft spot for Spurs' supporters. Speaking after his team's 3-1 success over Aston Villa, though, he pinpointed exactly where Redknapp has got it right.

'Every time Ledley plays, Spurs seem to win,' he said, 'and it was the same when I was there.

'We had good spells and when he played we were in the top four. He is the key.

'He is very good, actually he is better than that. He is the best central defender I have seen in my career.

'He is left-footed, right-footed and is unbelievably quick. He is always quicker than his opponent. He is tough.
'I had to do without him for seven months but we still got 60 points.

'In the first season we had 65 points with him but then Carrick was there as well.

King of Spurs: Ledley King celebrates scoring against London rivals West Ham

'I feel Ledley is one of the few who is such a natural athlete even when he is not training he seems to play well.

'I haven't seen that before in my life. Normally if you are out for a month or two you have to play a couple of times to get fit but he always comes in and does his best.

'England have good defenders, but I feel he is more talented than the rest of them.'

Jol was treated shamefully as Spurs pursued Juande Ramos.

Yet he remains fond of the supporters, despite having to hold his tongue on certain other issues.

'Spurs is a very special and fantastic club. It took me a couple of months to get over leaving.

'I'd see them play on television and thought they were my players.
'I enjoyed it. And they are back on their feet again. I think they will be in the top five for a couple of years.

'The fans deserve it. The club has over one million fans and they were so good to me.
I will never forget that.
'I wanted to go back at Christmas but Newcastle is too far. But my best friend is a Spurs fan and he is enjoying life again under Harry.
'Harry was a good choice. He's a man-manager. The fans love him again. It's a new spell for the club and I'm pleased for the supporters.'

Man of the match for me today. Didn't put a foot wrong. I swear at one point he managed to clear the ball without being anywhere near it.

I think we all know how amazing he is, so I won't bother talking about the massive difference he makes when he plays. Just wanted to say that I actually consider it an honour to watch him play for our club.

Notmally if we were 2-1 up against the gooners with 5 mins of injury time, I'd be worried...but today I was completely calm knowing that we had Ledley at the back.

legend.
