Ledley should be ahead of Ferdinand and Terry, and nobody is going to tell me otherwise. That is criminal

I've just read that and it is fairly even-handed but to say "on his day" King is a formidable opponent is utter nonsense. Like most of the others in that list, with the eception of that mug Gallas, they are all as steady as you like very rarely having off days. Leds is pure class, I have seen all of those players having rough days where it is very rare indeed that Leds even has to break a sweat, never mind really struggle. Yes Cole gave him a tough time on Sunday, but Leds was playing on his less favoured side with an unfamiliar partner. In reality, Cole's goal came from Bassong and he got very little change when up against Leds.

I know we are biased, but Leds only real rivals for the best in the prem are Vidic and Ferdinand and I would say that he is a much better footballer than Vidic.

Leds is the King!

Lastly, where's woody? He is better than bloody Lescott any day of the week.

vidic at number 1? not sure i agree with that tbh rest of the list seems pretty fair though as walworthyid said leds is a much better footballer than him as is rio.

Edit i should point out that im not suggesting ledders should be second on that list 4th is probs fair maybe even 5th behind carragher but only because he is broken

Its difficult to argue that a guy who can't turn out for every game is the best in the country. If King had remained fit, he would've been starting alongside Ferdinand for England, that much I'm sure of, but he didn't, so it's fair to put him 4th imo.

On pure talent alone, and forgetting his injuries, i would have him at 3rd.

Rio>Vidic>King>Terry

Why is it? They are doing that purely on ability and performances and Leds, playing in a shit team alot of the time, has the ability to turn in performances of the very highest order.

By your reckoning, a player who plays every game should get some extra points for attendance or something:shrug:

Leds is the king and I will personally kill anybody who dares to say otherwise!

You've been warned.................

Thats quite a statement. I wouldnt expect to hear that from a Spurs fan, especially as you have seen with your own eyes how consistent Ledley is. Its not about bias either, i truly believe hes the best in the country by a good margin unfit or not.

The only thing Leds doesn't have is aggression and I think he is so good that he rarely has to resort to that. In fact I think that he is good that the ease with which he plays the game counts against him in that he is not like Terry and Vidic diving about all over the place making last ditch tackles. He just waits until the right moment and puts a toe in and nicks the ball away without any real fuss.

The true testament to his ability is that he can play as well as any other cb in world football without training AT ALL! I would love to see the others on that list pull that one off!

Like Harry says "He pops in on a Friday morning, has a little jog around the training ground and says he will be okay".

That is legendary stuff!

Its hard to compare though. Ferdinand, for instance, has had the advantage of playing in a settled successful team, for one manager, but then he has also proven himself in Champions League and World Cup agaisnt the best opponents.

The only striker I have ever seen give Led the completer runaround was Craig Bellamy when we beat Blackburn 3-2 a few years back, maybe he wasn't quite fully fit, but he just couldn't get near him all match long.

I'd love to see how Hangeland would fair in a top side that presses higher up the pitch. He's a good defender, but so over rated.

I know it doesnt quite compare, but when Ledley has been given the chance at CB on an international stage, i.e Euro 2004 he has been rock solid. He was collossal against France, more so than Campbell yet he was the one to be dropped for that twat Terry.

That is because Bellamy is kind of like Keane but with blistering pace. He drops in the hole, runs channels and can be a real handful. I imagine that the problem would have been that Leds was unsure whether to go with him, or leave him to somebody else.

Anyways, did Bellamy score in that game? If he did, it wasn't enough!

Absolutely immense in that match! They had to bring in special cutting equipment after that match to get Henry out of Leds pocket:grin:
