England captain Harry Kane is unlikely to be fit for Euro 2020, a leading orthopaedic surgeon has said. Kane went under the knife on Saturday to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring and his club Tottenham have said they expect him to resume training in April. Chris Wilson, one of the United Kingdom's prominent doctors in the procedure, says he thinks it is more likely to be six months before Kane could play again.

That's really not a bad thing at all.

As I just said in the Kane thread, it’s bad if he pushes to get back for the Euros and then does it again. Which is a scenario I can totally see happening unfortunately.

He's England captain and it's a major tournament.
Knowing how much he pushes himself to get fit to return for club games, you can be certain he will be targeting captaining the side in the Euros. He'll then aggravate it even more...

Yeah I don’t know how it can be interpreted as anything but shit news because if he can manage a training session there’s no way he won’t be at the tournament.

England just making up the numbers. Nice warm up in the knockouts for a genuine contender

Said this from the start. If his hamstring really has detached from the bone, he isn't going to be training anytime soon.

Doctors exagerate return times, he always returns sooner than expected because he works hard to recover. He'll be back before the end of the season and in time for the Euros. How long it will take him to get back to form is another thing. I hope he goes to the Euros because he'll be rested in these recovery months anyway and will need game time before next season.

Different doctors, different opinions. And this is just one of them. He knows nothing about Kane's conditions and gives just a safe option of probability. Only time will tell. For easily suggestible people it is better not to know. But for a newspaper great stuff to print.
