It looks to me that he's filled out his frame. He'll never be an Aurier in terms of sheer physicality but his biggest problem was that he was too easily bullied. If he's put on 5-10 pounds of muscle as it appears he has done, he has every chance to make it with us. I'm warming to the idea of keeping KWP, shifting Aurier, and bringing in a young talent to compete for the spot such as Bogle or Sergino Dest.

Another youth player we didn’t give a proper chance to grow, we mismanaged and will subsequently squander.

Didn't see today, but it's great he's done well. Either way, we stand to prosper. Southampton want to keep him and we do a deal with Hjobjerg coming the other way, or Jose decides to bring him back, sell Aurier and have him and someone like Aarons compete for RB.

Should have been given more chances here and if he does well for Southampton I hope we give him next season.

Let's hope the powers be haven't already made their mind up to sell. It's a position we desperately need cover for and more than one option on, which hopefully represents an upgrade on Aurier.

He needed a run of games out on loan with another PL team to see if he could cut it. It's a shame it didn't happen earlier, but we are where we are, and hopefully we don't turf him out of the door too soon to regret it later down the line.

On full-back Kyle Walker-Peters' loan spell with Southampton, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho added: "He's a kid that everyone loves here and Daniel Levy has a special feeling for here. He came here so young, is a kid who has been here for years and years. He's playing well."

Fingers crossed for him next season, although chances are Mourinho's talking out of his arse again like so often with fringe players.

He also said that they would not stop him leaving if he felt the need to pursue happiness in the form of more minutes. From listening to the entire clip it sounded to me like Jose would happily have Kyle as a backup but would not really be arsed if he left. If Jose really thought he was gonna come back to the club and be first choice next season I think he would have been more explicit in saying that he liked the player, not that the club did.

I've always been a fan of KWP since his academy days - he did ok the other day, and dealt with Sterling very comfortably, but still switched off badly two or three times and was lucky not to be punished.

To be honest he looked like what he is, a rookie who still has barely any senior football matches under his belt and never had a run of games and needs to learn and mature. Problem is though, especially in terms of any possible future with us, he's 23. We should have been watching him have these games like three or four years ago.

Think it would also do his top level prospects much better if he could rediscover his attacking game. He was a really direct runner, super agile dribbler with great close control and would beat people for fun, and play some great little give and go's and get the ball back. Whether it's confidence, step up in quality, or it's being coached out of him I don't know, but at first team level he's only shown the briefest glimpses of that.

My problem with KWP is that he looks so scrawny and underdeveloped physically compared to most top footballers and certainly most defenders. Not saying he necessarily is, looks can deceive and he might be absolutely hench under the shirt, but that's the impression I get.

But as a like for like replacement for Aurier doing the role Aurier does now with less defensive responsibility, I'd like to see KWP given a proper run.

The way Poch (mis)managed him after his superb debut is still perhaps the most baffling issue of his entire tenure.

That's exactly why I mentioned rediscovering the attacking game he was capable of in the academy. He is always going to be small no matter how much he tries to muscle up, especially for a defender. But (top level) teams might be willing to trade off the occasions when he might get bullied a bit defensively if his attacking output going the other way was of value.

Also think long term the type of team he is playing for probably comes into it - His size would be less of an issue if his team is playing on the front foot high up the pitch and has the vast majority of the ball most weeks. Teams playing with a lower block nearer their area and soaking up pressure, that does include us with Mourinho, he's obviously going to be less attractive to them. I think ultimately for us that, even if Aurier's role does have license to get forward, Jose will want someone far more robust at right back.
