He is what he is at this point - an undersized right back with very good technical ability. He’s 23 so he’s not going to get that much bigger, and this lack of physicality and aggression will limit his career unfortunately. He’s about at the upper end of his level where he is with Southampton so although I would of loved him to of made it with us we owe it to him to let him make a career for himself as PL player

This is gonna upset some people who were so desperate to have their opinion vindicated about KWP

@ILS ?

I'll still maintain that he needed a loan in the Championship about 3 years ago, it would have given him the chance to rid himself of mistakes and also toughen up a bit. Absolutely no disputing his technical ability and I like him. I just feel he'll always be a bit weak in the tougher tighter games.

Compare him to other RBs of similar age. TAA was trusted early on and has played regularly for 2-3 years which has allowed him to blossom, Klopp trusted him.

Aarons, has been playing regularly since he was 18, which has helped him to condition and develop.

KWP has been sat on a bench in the most crucial and final stage of a player's development. Hardly any game time, no chance to rebound and learn from an error. Young kids need to be allowed to make errors and then get straight out onto the pitch to improve it. Foyth is in the same boat.

Poch got this horribly wrong and shouldn't have been so arrogant to think that having a player just train with him would give them the tools to be successful.

I mean after Walker left we struggled with Trippier and Aurier who between them weren't pulling up trees. That was the chance to tell KWP that he's gonna be given an opportunity with patience. Shame

Let's see who is right in the long term. No point to continue to argue game by game basis.

If he stayed on like you want him to and if we got your way with no Europa league football next season then there is another season of lack of development for the lad.

I will stand by my statement If he ends up having a career similar to Kyle Naughton then he should be proud of himself.

Yeah just as long as you don't bump whenever he has a bad game or doesn't get picked...like earlier ;)

Who said I wanted him to stay? I think his time is done at Spurs and will do well at Southampton due to the games he's going to start to rack up, besides I'm not interested in hypothetical arguments.

KWP is an absolute game changer. Never seen a RB who’s such a playmaker in the attack and still solid defensively. If Ralph signs him, he has the potential to be one of the best RBs in the league imo

Though I doubt that he'll ever really be able to reach his full potential. It's great he's showing signs of his old self at least. I used to comment all the time, that I've never seen a player control and dictate a game from RB but KWP always seemed to do it. The fact the Southampton fans are noticing the difference and the game change once he's on says he's at least rediscovering a bit of his old self. Another MOTM for him, must have a decent ratio of games to MOTM awards, especially for a FB.

Criminal how badly poch and the club handle him, onomah and Edwards these should of been big players for us now if the development was handle properly.

I still have this nagging feeling could be a mistake to let him go...

People say he is undersized but he’s an inch shorter than Carr was?

I hope we don't, it sounds like he's really showing what he can do at Southampton and I think he could rack up the assists with us, especially playing as that advanced RB that Aurier is now, I still remember the game he had (our first year at Wembley?) When he got 3 or 4 assists.

We haven't burnt our bridges with him and he could potentially save 20-30m if we gave him the chance

Carr was pretty stocky though. Regardless I don't think it's a mistake, he is a good kid and deserves a decent career for the loyalty he has shown. Let him go and see what he can achieve.

It’s all this talk of him being like a playmaker down the right as well.

Imagine how valuable that would be adding to our play, especially as he’s a massive spurs fan as well.

He’s getting MOTM for them too.

I think he'll develop with regular game time. All this talk of lack of physicality - I bet there's not much difference size and strength wise between him and Ricardo Pereira who everybody raves about. Ngolo Kante isn't your stereotypical DM either but it hasn't done him any harm. He's had a handful of games for us and picked up a few MOM ratings which you don't often get from seasoned fullbacks. Happy to keep him and I think we could well regret selling him in the long run.

I feel letting KWP go permanently is going to be a huge mistake. He should have been sent out on loan a lot earlier than he was which is on the previous regime. I hope to see him back next season in a Spurs shirt.

I think we have stuttered his development when he should have more game time already since two to three seasons back. It might not be a bad idea then when we had him and Tripps competing instead of signing Serge.

If not felt he is going to play much next season we should give him a season loan at Southampton, although of course depends if we want to save some dosh on Hojbjerg.

I’d prefer just straight cash and letting them have KWP on loan but depends on how much cash we have etc.

Watched a bit of the Bournemouth game and he made a goal-saving clearance - very impressive.

He's clearly a better footballer than Aurier - much better football brain and technique - but something about him still makes me worry a little. He always looks like he can be barged past by a strong or pacy attacker, and it's hard to see him ever beating his man and getting to the byline to put in a cross. I presume this is the reason why Poch had such high hopes for him but never truly trusted him. The ability is so clearly there, but the physicality is always lacking that little bit.

I'm massively torn on what to do with him tbh. So much potential but I still just can't imagine him ever being the first choice RB in a Mourinho side. I think he'll have a solid enough career wherever he ends up, though.
