Based on current noises from Southampton he’s come into the restart playing well, with a good half v Arsenal followed by a very good full match v Watford, for which Hasenhuttl has praised both his attacking instincts and ball retention.

Snippets from Saintsweb:

ally enjoyed KWP. Effectively on trial and his stock would have risen today

KWP big improvement on Valery who needs experience in Champ/L1 next season to toughen up

I'd play Walker-Peters and Smallbone in every match

KWP is so much better than Valery. Need to sign him up or buy another starter.

Great away performance. KWP upgrade on Valery.

KWP looked decent. Certainly earned a run in the team.

KWP was outstanding

Walker-Peters has secured that right back spot

continues like that, only praise for the guy. Maybe, just maybe, a run to the end of the season, get confidence and rhythm, and he will be a viable option next season either competing with Aurier or an Aurier replacement?

Nah. He will be sold as a swap deal for Hojbjerg

Liked the look of KWP - he looks like you could just pop him in your pocket, but against Watford’s monsters totally un-phased and always looking forward tidy player on today’s performance if Spuds want to swap him for PEH, crack on.

So annoying to read this, he should have been starting for us, oh well.

Hopefully he ends up an unexpected solution to one of our issues. An HG rb who excels in a footballing side would be welcome.

Bigger test coming this Sunday v Man City.

Perhaps. But perhaps after a good run in this league in what is our biggest problem area, and with twice as long left on his contract as well as the HG premium, it suddenly won’t make sense for us to give him up for PEH.

Absolutely dominating Sterling right now.

Can’t help but feel that we should keep him and try to swap our Aurier for an improvement of some sort.

Terrible left foot clearance, Aurier would have been hammered for it
Agreed, though did brilliantly to make the space to clear it in the first place. Also, a kid with fewer than 10 top flight stars gets more leeway than a 8 figure fee international player in his peak years.

Sterling has moved to the left because he didn’t fancy the task v KWP.

Of course he's playing better, he's getting a run of games which is what he always needed, contrast this when we played City at the Etihad and he was all over the place, looks a million miles away from that player now.

Playing really well against City right now.

He was on my sell list, but if he keeps playing like this then he is definitely someone we should consider keeping. Quite annoying that his first Prem loan has come when he is 23 - would have been good to give him that experience earlier.

He can certainly proved quality in the final third, would of liked him to be playing in Aurier’s role of the designated attacking full back

Sadly this is one area Pochettino’s attitude was all wrong, his approach to youth was one glove fits all and if they can’t impress in training with first team players, they don’t play.

Hopefully by the end of the season he keeps up this form. Right now if I were watching him and he was a non spurs loaner, just a random and we’d be linked, I’d be wanting us to sign him.

It's likely we'll sell him and bring in Hojberg which I'm not mad at.

Has always been a good footballer, twice the player Aurier is on the ball. If he had Aurier's strength and build I have no doubt he'd be starting for us right now.

I’ve always said he’s better than Aarons and no one can convince he isn’t.

Makes me angry how badly we handled him, he was better than all these English RB’s we see now

I dunno, Aaron's is 20 and playing regularly. KWP has been inconsistent for Southampton, but seems to have now had a run of two good games and I like KWP if he really impresses I'm sure we will keep him. He is playing well today but still has looked a bit lightweight at Southampton Jury is still out.
