If we were battling it out with Sevilla, I don’t think we’re anymore. They just signed a new striker

Gabriel Barbosa looks flashy in his highlights with his step overs and lashing left foot shots, but Piatek just looks more functional to me, harder working focal point type, better suited to what we need at the minute, when we have Son and Moura who like Barbosa prefer to play wider and drive infield.
At times last night, we had players breaking forward but nobody to aim for in the box.
I get the feeling Barbosa isn’t wanted by Inter, and they’d be glad to work him into a deal to see Eriksen join now. Milan on the other hand appear more likely to push for a deal that suits them more than us.

I tend to lean to signing Gabriel. Just think he's more suit to playing for us. Think this match highlights video sums up what sort of player you'll be getting - someone who might frustrate, losing possession trying to make something happen, but will aggressively try to win the ball back, won't just sit on the shoulder of the last man like Piatek. Ultimately, his two goals turn the game around and wins the Livertadores for Flamengo.

That video made me cry again.

Still no good for us. Piatek is better.

Mourinho’s comments yesterday states ‘target man’ he believes we are missing that. Barbosa has ability, but stylistically he’s more likely to try and occupy the wider areas like Moura and Son, we already have that covered. We need someone to occupy the CB’s centrally, to create space for others. Admittedly, I’m going off youtube which is a small sample size of what Barbosa brings.

I don't think Piatek is better. Neither are good enough even as backups for us.
Barbosa is a diva and not physical enough and Piatek is too much of a fox in the box.

Daniel should be walking over to the Watford Chairman’s box and asking about Deeney.

Can’t stand the guy, but he’s an absolute bastard in the box. He’s a mauler. He gives CBs fits. He can hold the ball up. Imagine Son and Lucas and our midfielders running off him.

We need a physical bully.

Agreed. We don’t need a consistent goal scorer, we need a physical presence up front who can hold the ball up for the likes of Lucas and Son, both of whom have plenty of goals in them.

We need a Diego Costa or Cavani type. Someone with strength to hold the ball up, but also the ability to carve and finish chances themselves.

A constant nuisance is the exact type of striker we need. Regardless whether he has the ball or not, someone to absolutely play the opposition CBs up for 90 minutes.

If there's a Drogba type out there...he'll do.

6ft plus and the positional awareness of someone who's natural position is (you've guessed it) centre forward.

probably asking for too much here.

Funny you should say that, I’m sure one of the ITK’s suggested a week or so back, there was a CF option out there being looked at that would not be popular. At that time, I was thinking of two players, both with links to bitter rivals, which would explain why fans would be unhappy.
1. Giroud
2. Diego Costa
Wouldn’t be my choice, but I can see that they could bring to us.

I wish we'd go all in for Victor Osimhen, and in pure fantasy land, Luis Campos brings him when he joins up.

Would love some Costa action.

Give me anyone at this rate. Llorente, Benteke, you name it. We need a body up top and if we don't get one we'll be closer to relegation than Europe.

January transfer window - looking for strikers - everyone is trying to fuck everyone else over though. You have to get your pieces in place and then start working down your list as each one you really want doesn't happen.
I imagine Benteke is somewhere quite far down the list at the moment.

Can't see Piatek being what we need right now. Needs to be more involved for my money.

Everyone asking for Costa knows he’s hurt and out until March, right?
