Only watched his goals in YouTube. I'll take him. Desperate now.

He's quite quick for his size. Big and athletic, very Mourinho kind of signing I guess?

His goal celebration is abit childish, the double barrel gun shooting, hahaha. But I hope I can get tired of that if he plays for us.

mots because his nickname is Pistolera.

It's possible that Mourinho just wants a target man for route one game situations similar to how Poch used Llorente. And if Piatek has enough in his knees to go a full ninety minutes and at least make an effort at pressing then it's not necessarily the craziest/stupidest option if the price is low enough. He's not as fat as VJ and has played in a somewhat more legitimate league. He can score from open play and work space for a shot in and around the box. And much better in the air than VJ. So one can't rule out that he could be effective at times.

Obviously he's slow and has an atrocious first touch. He's going to lose possession. But the going rate for an in-form striker with potential and physical characteristics/pace is so high. And then you wind up with a player like Batshuayi in the squad who is unhappy with the playing time and out of form for lack of it but also overpaid and can't be shifted because of the wages.

For me this isn't crazy. Not exciting but there's at least some logic, especially as a six month loan. And low expectations.

that’s probably who we’ll get! ?

If we're actually interested in signing him (or any other striker), hopefully we're pursuing a loan with an option to buy. Janssen should be a strong indicator that we should be careful on gambling for backup #9s.

I doubt we’re gonna spend £30m on a back up striker. It’s just not our style. Fans are getting desperate but the club has got to think long term. There is little chance he hits the ground running as there is a huge difference between the playing styles in serie A and prem. And when Kane returns he will be firmly relegated to the bench, lose confidence and sharpness and then most probably ask to leave. We’ll then need to take a loss on him. I just don’t see it I’m afraid.

Don’t know much about him, but his style reminds me of Lineker, very much a poacher.. With that in mind, he’s a different kind of striker to Harry, and possibly one that could work well with Harry too. It’s always a risk buying any player from abroad considering the levels the Prem runs at, but at the moment we’re a bit stuck for options, and he could be a good one.

This. Makes absolutely zero sense. Only if we really wanna push hard for top4. Hope it’s rubbish.

My guess is that we’re trying to loan him and insert a buy option.

Kane is out till April, and you know if we had nobody any good up there then he'd be rushing back to aggravate his injury again. Echo your sentiments if this was a permanent transfer but different story if it's loan with an option to buy. We are looking light without Kane up front until April, if he comes back there is no guarantee he will be the same player for a period, and you never know Piatek might turn out to be decent in which case we can consider a purchase option. Don't forget we are still in the Fa Cup and the Champions League. We need the bodies and Piatek could turn out to be important for extra prize/TV money if not challenging for the cup.

If he's shit then we're not much worse off as we can ship him off back to Milan in the summer and get Kane sharp for the following season.

Whilst it would be good for parrott I don’t think it’s plausible for a champions league chasing team team to rely on a 17 year old until virtually the end of the season
I’m not so sure we are a Champions League chasing team this year...... and suspect anyone that thinks we are is going to be very disappointed....

SpazioMilan, who of course specialise in AC Milan, say that via their own information they’ve learned of a Tottenham offer.

Spurs are said to have put forward a €5m loan fee, with a €30m option to buy the Poland international in the summer window. That’s not acceptable to Milan, who would want a permanent deal, or at least a loan with a mandatory purchase clause.

Sky Italia are also covering Tottenham interest this evening.

I see this happening if we hike the loan fee a bit, but if they won't budge then we should move on. He's not worth the gamble on a permanent transfer, surely somebody relatively competent would be available if we could chuck a £5m loan fee at a club. I wonder if Cavani would be available to get on loan until the expiry of his contract?

Would rather Dries Mertens to be fair...genuine class, and can play off the wing as well as in a number 10!

I know he is older, but out of contract at the end of the season, and allegedly available for around €10m

An absolute snip for a guy who has done it at club level and international too!

With us needing so many new additions, a small price to pay for an experienced veteran would be preferred to free up funds for midfield and defence!

I love when people who just obviously don't watch Serie A pass judgement. I don't want him as I like Parrott and if we were going to sign a back-up I'd rather they can play as a winger and a forward like Son - but if we were linked a year ago, the faux experts would have been creaming their knickers.

How about we all just stop pretending we know anything about players because we've just watched a short video of them?
M8, I am on public record a few years back about what a great player Sofiane Boufal was and what a fantastic signing he would be for us, all based on nothing more than a few short YouTube compilations. I like to think I've been proven right and then some since. Highlights clips are a top-notch scouting tool, the choice of a pro. :smug:

With Kane’s injury record I’m starting to question the term ‘back up striker’. We just need another striker!

30 million really isn’t a lot in the current market for a back up/another striker. Just would like better quality than Piatek.
