Looking it up, he's now in Switzerland playing for Sion
His taxi has left the rank, we better move on.

Just to add to this, Di Marzio, live just now on Sky Sports in the studio said we're still interested in doing a deal for Slimani but would be difficult because they don't want him at Spurs (Leicester that is)

Is it just me or does anyone else want to sign him just so we can use 'I am the Music Man' for his chant...

He is the Special One
His name it is Jose
And he can play

Who can he play?

He play Piatek

If we ignore the top bit and just take it from 'Pia-Pia-Pia-Tek', I reckon that gives our fanbase half a chance of being able to remember the words. It's got slightly more chance of catching on than 'Give us a 'K', give us an 'R', give us a err, umm' anyway.

I've read the interview with Piątek's father and basically he says that Krzysztof is 'mentally ready to leave Milan' and 'he's most interested in going to England'.

'If nobody would want to pay, he may stay in Milan, but 30 mil euros is not a lot for English clubs', he says.

Well, Piątek obviously is not going to us, because for Levy any kind of money is a lot.

I am more then happy to get him in, but anyone who thinks he is a hold up player is in for a disappointment. He's a poacher who works hard. He will shoot on sight but he wont bring others into play.

I'm not sure about that

More physical presence and meanace than a mere poacher - he's suited and able to be the focus of the attack. Perhaps "hold up play" isn't his forte but he presses well and turns the ball over high up the pitch fairly regularly - we actually suit an energetic high pressing forward with good mobility better than a more static old school "big guy" who holds it up to bring teammates into play. IMO Piątek is a pretty good fit for what we need.

Look for the last two seasons he has averaged around 13 passes a game. This season Kane gets twenty. But typical target men get around 20-30 passes a match. In the PL Piatek in the bottom 10 strikers for touches made this season based on this season alone. Though would be slightly higher if taking the average (13).

Piatek is strong at scoring goals with his head but isn't all that in terms of winning headers. He has averaged around 2 a game in the last two seasons. This puts him slightly bellow Diego Jota and well bellow Kane's 6.5 headers a game.

His average total tackles in the last two seasons is about 0.5 a game, slightly bellow Kane's 0.6 this season. Both Kane and Piatek would be in around the middle when it comes to tackles by strikers. His interceptions are 0.2, again slightly bellow Kane's 0.3 and around the missle of the PL. His turn over isn't that high.

I mean I think he is a useful player and am very much in support of his signing. However, yes he presses and harries but he is fundamentally a poacher, who's only remarkable stat is his shots per game. He isn't particularly tall or physical, he is a hard working poacher, who can finish with both his feet and with his head. His focus in a game is to get himself into goal scoring positions, so good movement and good finishing are his strengths. But that is about it.

Now, I don't know if he suits us more, because Jose loves the long ball. In a Poch team he would suit much better. But he is currently my first choice. I'm just worried that people are imagining him to be a player he simply isn't.

Can't really see the point in comparing him with Kane, if his stats were comparable with H's he'd be a lot nearer the 150m Harry is worth rather than the 30m we are perhaps looking at paying.

What we need is a target man. Someone who can win headers, compete physically and hold the ball up. Son, Moura and Dele then have a focal point to play off and their goal output will increase. If the target man can also score goals then that is an added bonus. But target men who can dominate physically, link play and score goals cost quite a lot of money. More than £30M anyway.
