I don’t disagree that a loan for a striker makes a bit of sense but what fucking indication is there that Levy is going to back Jose with a DM or fullbacks this window?

The tone has shifted from "Poch will be backed" to "Jose will be backed" to "We don't have money to spend" to "ENIC are looking to sell the club and won't spend" to "**** is looking only at loans with no obligation." I'd absolutely love to be wrong but I think those of us who have sat through countless Daniel Levy specials knows exactly where this window is headed.

Well then the second half of this season is going to be a breeze for you, isn't it? Less time raging about the folk who sit at board level, less time raging about the squad because it'll be right where you expect it to be.

I'll wait for the end of the window and I will definitely wait for a proper link about Enic, Levy, Lewis etc to be linked to a proper company who wants to fork out the cash they want. Until then we're stuck with it all.

To be fair to Levy, firstly we have brought in Gedson Fernandes this window. A loan with an option to buy on a striker makes the most sense, because of Kane's situation and it also acts as a mitigation of risk like Gedson.

As for DMs and full backs, maybe the ones we want are just not available in January and that can often be the case. I'd rather us wait a few months for the right one to come along rather than bringing in someone who just isn't good enough.

As long as we get a reasonable striker in on loan this window (basically not Llorente or Benteke), i'll hold fire on Levy until the summer where there can be no excuses to offload the players Mourinho doesn't want and chuck in another say £100m net for incomings.

Always felt that letting Fernando go was a mistake without a replacement. It took so long for his departure to be confirmed that I was sure somebody was being lined up. Seemed mad to go with only Harry who misses a couple of months every single year.

Having someone who actually thrives on being in the box should be what we need. You see the ability we have with Alli, Lamela and Lo Celso to thread passes into the box, plus Moura and Son’s surging runs from the wide channels draw cover across. Having someone who actually works to be on the end of these could be the missing link.
Look at Vardy, does he really impact build up play, no, but he scores goals that make a difference. Aguero likewise. If teams have multiple other players that can create, sometimes you just need someone to be on the end of it, not all players have to be multifunctional. If his one dimensional skill equals goals, that’s what we need right now.

The thing to pay attention to here, is the clear commentary about us wanting a loan. Surely that means that with Gedson just on board, Lo Celso’s loan must be converted, unless I’ve misunderstood the amount of loans we can have at once.

All the talk has been quite from JM identifying the gaps in the squad. When he first joined he said he didn’t see us doing much in January because he felt the squad was good. He now sees the weaknesses, and to some extent has declared this in the media. He has out the onus back on Levy to deliver, something Poch often failed to do.
