So it seems yes just dont know why we dont get deals done when we can.
The man just doesnt move quick enough, is it any wonder we always end up with our second or third choice targets. He haggled and haggled over a few million for Benteke, decided that was too much and went and wasted 26 million on the only Striker left on the market, Soldado. Happens too often with Levy.

It's also been said that AVB turned down the chance to sign Benteke and favoured the money be spent on Soldado - so hard to know where the blame lies at times

There is certainly a problem with us getting deals over the line - all too often we hear about troublesome selling clubs moving the goal posts at the last min when we/levy are the common denominator

Yeah cant disagree with this the haggling stuff is very frustrating to keep watching this happen, i think he gets the deal close then trys to play silly games in reducing the fee although its quite the opposite when selling.

How do you know it's not done? How do you know it's being held up my price issuing and haggling? How do you know it's Levy's fault?

Been said by who though? ITK? If so I'd take that with a pinch of salt. Whats clear is that we were in negotiations with Aston Villa over Benteke well before we made a move on Soldado, those are the facts. But anyway, that's just one example.

We dont 'know' anything, but we can state our opinions on what we think is happening, based on previous history.

Jumping to quick conclusions it seems to just blame someone, when nothing is known for certain.
Like I said, it's an opinion on what I (and seemingly a few others) think is PROBABLY happening/happened. Levy has a long track record of this but if you want to sweep that under the carpet thats up to you.

I believe it was said by that journalist who was known to have a personal relationship with AVB

And yes I agree pinch of salt - hence my saying it is difficult to know where to attribute blame some times (there is reasonable doubt either way in the Benteke affair I believe)

The facts you mention are also in line with the notion that AVB preferred to spend the money on Solado - as in the club already knew the cost of signing Soldado and when negotiations with Villa indicated that his fee would cost a similar amount to Soldado and Benteke no longer the cheaper option AVB insisted we opt for Soldado (again whether this is true or if the decision was Levy's or indeed someone elses is up for debate)

I know it is just one example - I said in the message I quoted you in that failure to cement deals once bidding for a player is all too common an occurrence with us and the line about selling clubs moving goal posts happens all too often to believe it is always their fault and none lies at the door of Levy (and or whoever has in put in getting these signings done)

Clearly there has been a problem at the club in the past getting deals done for the players we want and then resorted to cheaper, shitter alternatives (the summer window just gone is a perfect example of this) and it seems that the same may still be happening if we end up losing out on Wimmer and no doubt other targets going forward

Same old story I fear

Who said that Levy "haggled and haggled over a few million for Benteke"?

We went in at £20m, Villa wanted £25m. It was reported by pretty much every newspaper at the time. I'm really not going to search for every report that covered it but here's an example http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...ham-transfers-christian-benteke-hopes-2055336

We went on to piss £26m up the wall on Soldado, but the man seems to walk on water with some of you.
So ITK = pinch of salt required, the Mirror = Gospel?

Truth is we don't know what happened, whether we were even interested or we dropped interested due to AVB nor wanting him or if in fact Levy was trying to haggle and screwed it up.
