Ever since we’ve been linked to him I’ve always thought it too random for there not to be some truth in it.

If we pull this off, I back us to be genuine title contenders next season. Don't expect it to happen though.

Would be a hell of a statement, but I'd prefer it if we spread the wealth around a little. Our CBs are a bit wobbly but I think signing a quality DM and RB should be higher in the pecking order. Signing 1 quality CB won't save us if he's left hanging out to dry by the midfield and Aurier is still giving away penalties and pissing the ball away with his shit crossing.

It's also becoming abundantly clear that we seriously need to upgrade on Lucas as he just can't be first choice any longer so we'll need money for that too.

Edit: No idea how this is spam but thanks for the delicious snack.

We could get a top quality DM and a fullback for what he'll cost. If we buy him we'll most likely get neither. It's a question of priorities.

A quality CB and a DM like Soumare/Zakaria etc could turn this team around. It’s what we’ve been badly missing, some actual strength. When we had Dembele and Wanyama firing on all cylinders, we were immense, and there was never a time when I thought our midfield would be outplayed or out muscled.. Behind them we had Jan and Toby at their peak. So I’m all for Koulibaly, but we need a strong midfielder too.

Not a hope that levy will spunk the kind of money it will take to sign him given his age. Obviously not knocking the itk as I'm sure there's truth we're interested but can see this one being played by levy like he has with other manager's and the deal will break down but he never had any intention of actually completing it and to be honest can't really blame levy for not wanting to spend that sort of cash on a 28 yr old.

Also this is the exact profile of players that Jose has historically wanted and IMHO will be the reason why levy and him will fall out within next 12 months as levy won't buy a lot of Jose's targets

I'm living in optimism land and hoping he can bring in Koulibaly AND a DM, whilst moving for Ferguson at WBA on a cut price deal. My head says I'd be thankful to see any of them come in, as big deals in January is not really a Levy thing.

I'm just hoping this is similar to the January after Redknapp got appointed. Missing out on CL now would be almost like a relegation situation after a few consistent seasons of that income.

Haven’t seen loads, but my concern would be age and for the kind of money bandied around he looks agricultural on the ball. I don’t like the thought of him and Sanchez in a partnership, maybe with Alderweireld but he’s on his way down.

He’s the same age as VVD is he on his way down?

Get a bit of info saying our manager wants the club to try and buy one of the best all round CBs in the world and people still find something to moan about :ROFLMAO:

I know what you mean, but what if the players in those positions are not currently available?

It’s been said multiple times what a clusterfuck we’ve made of our squad building to get us to this point, but it is what it is and we can’t change it. And if the players we might be looking at in those key positions are not attainable until the summer then we shouldn’t pass up an opportunity to get a top level commanding CB now if we can.

It's a steep price but at this time and age, quality players like him does not come cheap. One hell of a signing if we could get him
