Expect Dier back in as DM . Jose likes him and they can talk together in Portuguese, as they did in the tunnel at Old Trafford which upset Poch somewhat.

It maybe a variation of two
Kane
Alli -------------------------------- Son
Eriksen
NDombele - Winks
Rose - Verthonghen - Alderweireld - Dier
Lloris

Or

Kane
Eriksen -------------------------------- Son
NDombele - Winks
Dier
Rose - Verthonghen - Alderweireld - Aurier
Lloris

It will be interesting to look back through his appearances on Skysports as a pundit and see what his views are on Spurs... will go along way to see what approach he will take.

My sense is that Poch's loyalty to the 'contract rebels' for want of a better term was part of the problem at the end (secondarily to results) so im guessing they wont feature and thus we see something like:-

Gazza
Foyth Dier Sanchez Davies
Sissoko Ndombele
Sonny Dele LoC
Kane

If you look at his Sky Sports punditry he’s noted as saying Kane shouldn’t have started the Champions League final (he was right), the contract rebels must be sold as they damage the squad harmony (agree) and the signings of Ndombele and Lo Celso will take us to another level. Based on this and Mourinho evaluating his coaching team, tactics etc I’d expect the aforementioned players to play a vital role and him to have a new approach.

Gazza
Foyth, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Sessegnon
Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele
Son Kane Moura

Son not back till tomorrow I guess as he played yesterday. Doubt he’ll play this weekend.. Jose Wanted Dier at United and usually likes a big CDM in there so assuming he’ll go straight in.

Gazza
Foyth Toby Sanchez Rose
Ndombele Dier
Lucas then any 2 of Dele/Lo Celso/Eriksen
Kane

Think it will be Dele Eriksen.

this is the shaft of dark reality currently punctuating my canopy of deluded optimism

No doubt in my mind that he will try and mold Dele into the Lampard role arriving behind Kane. As others have said Dier might be involved, maybe even at right back - I don't see him going with Aurier or Foyth.

Eriksen is an interesting one and could go either way, same with Winks. I think he will like N'Dombele and Sissoko and the three centre backs, although Vertonghen is not fit. I don't see Lucas or Lo Celso being regular starters but he likes Rose so I expect him to play when fit.

Son and Kane are nailed on starters I think, whoever is Manager. I can see him taking a shine to Lamela. Will also be interesting to see if he ever trusts Sessegnon to play

I've no idea in other words, should be interesting...

Using this 4-1-2-3 template:

Lloris
(Gazzaniga)

Foyth Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
(Aurier Sanchez Tangana Davies)

Dier
(Sissoko)

Ndombele Dele
(Eriksen Lo Celso)

Lucas Kane Son
(Lamela Parrett Sessegnon)

Can't see Winks fitting in a Mourinho team. He doesnt have enough steel to be a DM or enough creativity to be an AM.

I reckon he will use our youth a bit more (or just using them at all is a bit more!). I reckon we will see Parrot on the bench and come on for his league debut.

Looking forward to the rest of the season now, I had lost a lot of interest this season with the way Poch was stagnating us. I wasnt too keen before we appointed Jose but Im going to get behind him while he is our coach. It is certainly going to be interesting.

New managers don't tend to change too much for the first few matches after taking charge mid season, although that may be different with this time due to the international break. I do think that he start with the team against Sheff Utd but will include Toby with Dier going into midfield. Out of all the players wanting out, I think Toby will be the one he will try and keep.

As a pundit he has said that the contract rebels need to be out of the team, however, I think that they will be given a limited chance for the sake of squad harmony - he's only got a 6 weeks with them until Jan so not worth alienating them and getting on a wrong foot to start with. Then in Jan he'll be ruthless - if they don't want to play for him and commit their futures they'll be quickly down the road.
