There are 2 players who would positively consider signing new contracts. Let you guess.

We will be pleasantly surprised by his new brand of football. I hear it is very clever.

I have never been a fan, but, he is a winner as we all know. People point to utd as a sign of failure, but what have they done since? It is a poor squad with average players that would have done just as poorly under any manager.

With jose there are a number of things you can take for granted;
We will be difficult to beat
We will work very hard in every match
We will be very organised
The players will no exactly what is expected of them
He will instill a winning mentality in the players
He will be active in the transfer market
He will win something
Our profile will be even bigger
We will have constant media attention
High quality players will want to join us
He will change his tactics to suit the opposition
He will not be afraid of playing at the big boys

There are negatives too, but at present we need all of the above.

I think it is a master stroke by Levy in the context of where we are in our development as a club and a brand.

It is also worth reminding ourselves that just a couple of years ago we couldn't even have dreamed of Mourinho wanting to manage us. We have come a long way. In the last 6 months we have played in a champions league final and are now being managed by one of the best managers in the history of football.

I'm sad about poch, but it isnt all doom and gloom.

Ok. What's done is done and all that. No point in lingering over the rights and wrongs and Levy's role in all this. I'm with him. Normally, a new manager gets the team back to its true level (like a progression to the mean if you like). If he does that, and sustains it to the end of the season, I will tip my hat to the fella. However, if similar performances appear after Feb, or earlier, I would hope everyone will have a little ponder as to who to point the finger at next time we change manager.

Herc, what the hell does that even mean mate? ?

I’ve got some kind of Mighty Ducks vision in my head that means we’re going to line up with 6 strikers and invert the pyramid so to speak.

Mate ? a bit of that lol. I think he is deliberately leaking it to the right people. But he is approaching this with a new style of play. That is what I am hearing. If you go back to my Mourinho comments in the past weeks, you will see why.

Yes! This! We think we know him because we know his name and presser arrogance so well. But we don't know what a thing, and many might be very positively surprised. Give him half a chance, enough of the fans division.
And if he gets players to recommit, that's worth loads. Imagine NOT losing half a team of experienced players on a free.
Hands down one player that could be intrigued by a new contract is Vertonghen IMO.

One thing I am certain is that we are not going to see Eriksen in the starting line up. Mourinho singled out Eirksen months ago (a few others but their names escape me now) that he might be the reason for the lack of chemistry we were seeing on the pitch.

I really hope this is the case. I don't think he's earned a starting place even if others around him are just as shit.

why would we want toby and eriksen to sign new contracts???

because a motivated and in form Eriksen has consistently led the PL assist chart, and if both Toby and Jan go we are very short of a CB and to get one more year out of either of them buys a bit more time to get replacements in and settled?
Not advocating either TBH, but to say there are no reasons is a bit short sighted.
I can certainly see Jose wanting another year out of Toby, just for the stability.

Because Toby's been our best defender these last few seasons? And it's n ever a good idea to switch both CB's at the same time?

Christian is a shadow of himself now, but at his best he's top 5 in the league. If Jose can get him back to his best, of course we want him to sign a new contract.

Rose I think will be one of them - Jose is a long term admirer and I think tried to sign him before when at Chelsea/Man U.
The other one might be Dier - seems like a Jose type player.

Would have loved Eriksen to sign a few months ago but he has a lot of goodwill to make up after the last 3 months or so.

Lots on here are leaving Winks out of the team they think Jose will play but for me he is only second to Kane as a starter its odd how we all see things differently. For me Winks is like oil in a machine he keeps things moving smoothly and quickly.

Because Mourinho doesn't use that kind of CM. He'll probably use Eric the mummy Dier

Not sure he is the right man for the job but I hope I get proven wrong. Imo, he usually needs to spend a lot of money to win things which is not something that will happen with us.

I just hope his new style of play is designed with the current squad in mind. We need him to make an impact now, not next season, but if his new style doesn’t suit our current players things could get ugly very quickly.

I think partly what's attracted him is that there's a lot of players we have that you'd think Mourinho would like. I can only count on one hand the ones that may not be to his liking. To me that would be Parrott, Clarke, Sessegnon, Lo Celso maybe and perhaps KWP also.

Exciting times. So sorry about Poch, but we all know that the football world has evolved so, so much now. C'est la vie, we move on.

A new era is about to start at Spurs. Let's get all aboard and have the patience to see what Mo has in store for us.
