Where did you read/hear the part in bold, all reports I've seen say its an obligation to buy if we qualify for a European competition regardless of if it is CL or EL?

That’s a really good point about sorting out the spine of his team, I hadn’t thought of it like that. He just needs the players to perform for him now.

I hope with Dier, if he’s pinning a lot of hopes on him, gives him time because he hasn’t had much football. Also that he asks him to be a pure destroyer in front of the back four. Nothing else, nothing fancy except give the ball to other to play. Once he’s asked to do more than that and be more expressive with his passing is when his weaknesses in midfield are exposed.

We are finally seeing the shape of a very good starting 11. It's not fully there yet I believe but it needs only minor tweaks from here. To me, remaining questions are best CB pairing, best CM pairing and best LB. Beyond that maybe a new goalie, even if I don't actively have anything against Gazzaniga.
