"I am very happy with the squad but, of course, next summer we will need to give a couple of touches but this is what you always do to improve the squad."

Well, quite.

Have to laugh really;

1) Mourinho arrives; 'I'm absolutely happy with what I've got and don't need anything else to be successful here'.
2) Signs 7 players in his first window. 4 of those are 1st team starters.
3) Says he needs some more.

He's really got Levy wrapped round his little finger so fair play to him for that.

Every squad needs some improvement. It may only be one player but that’s what drives the current squad to improve.

That’s where we got it wrong a couple of years ago.

It's simple really. He knows that we stagnated under Poch because we got complacent with refreshing the squad. Whilst I do think we need a couple more players, he's essentially just letting Levy know that we can never get complacent with recruitment.

Hopefully Levy also now understands the benefit of regular recruitment is it also keeps the existing players we want to retain motivated / on their toes / confident in the direction the club is going in too

Yeah Daniel you better back him, otherwise there's gonna be some very angry people in the ENIC thread :shifty:

They're likely to be already angry that Jose has mentioned the possibility that he won't be backed. It doesn't take much

I still don't understand where the summer transfer money came from.

How do you mean, we only spent £70m?

Last season we spent more.

True but no fans at home games for a whole season means an estimated loss of £100 million in matchday income . The transfer fees may have been lower this window but the wage bill must have jumped a bit with Bale coming in so I also have been a little surprised by the dealings when the economic future is a little cloudy , maybe the new man Birch is finding money hidden under Levy's mattress.
