I feel sorry for Poch as bad as we have been for a while now think he had done enough in his reign to warrant having to the end of the season to try sort things.
Jose is not my cup of tea but the guy is a proven winner and if his dull football brings trophies i would take it all day long.
I would agree but can’t help feeling that Poch’ s heart was no longer in it and wouldn’t have been able to turn things around. Let’s see what happens. 3 points on Saturday would be a good start.

Only three?
Surely the Special One'
will do better than that

Saturday’s team sheet will be interesting. As will that Amazon doc.

I’m actually excited. We need a coach to be firm with some of the pathetic players in our squad, to come in and sweep out the deadwood, the liabilities, the mercenaries and contract rebels, reinvigorate the players who haven’t been given enough chances by Poch and bring through the youth talent - which he’ll surely be willing to do like he did at Porto because he ain’t gonna get £200-300mil to spend off of Levy. He would have known that when taking the job.

He says he’s been working with a new coaching team and looking at his own management style while on sabbatical, he’s been waiting for the right job, he’s got a point to prove and he’s a proven consistent winner. He’s actually the first manager we’ve had who is isn’t he? I could be wrong.

A winning mentality is exactly what we needed to push us over the line when we came second in the league a few years back and in the CL final against a poor Liverpool team.

That said we could maybe see the end of Kane at Spurs in the summer after Poch emerges at his next club.

Unless of course Jose improves the service to him this season and he wins the golden boot, in which case he’ll love him as much as he loves Poch.

We shall see. But I think he is just what we needed. A truely experienced manager with a winning mentality. That is all he cares about.
Hes exactly what we needed. Football is a fickle game us long serving supporters understand it. Kudos to you Sebo

Poch lost the dressing room "Im gonna leave if we win the champions league" Naive to say the least. He should have never picked an unfit Harry Kane....

are you a current season ticket holder?

winning is important, especially for a club like ours that is starved of silverware.

the way we play is important also.

I, like a lot of others, is torn by this sacking and appointment.
I am current season ticket holder and sick of watching us lose, sorry but time was up he had to go.
Jose is a winner and that's what its all about.

I was able to get over the Arsenal connections of Terry Neill and George Graham, so tolerating Jose Mourinho as our manager will be easy.

I want every Spurs manager and team to succeed and really wanted to see Poch lift a trophy for us. It never happened but I will forever treasure the memories of that night in Amsterdam.

There is no sentiment in top level football, so time to look forward with Mourinho and wish him well.

That is one hell of a shake up with all that new staff and one thing is certain, this did not happen overnite, and before I am accused of being captain obvious, I just wonder how long this has taken to have all these negotiations and agreements in place.

Its a different set up, as Jose is head coach not manager it appears we may need a Football Manager as well. Maybe there is more to come on this and we need to appoint a football manager to over see all this.

Also, this is a reasonably short term contract, I wonder if its going to be a suck it and see how Jose goes, as he seems to do well over short periods then gets sacked from every club he has been at so I wonder if this is a stop gap till we can find a new good young manager for a long term.

I would imagine Levy and the board were truly reluctant to sack Poch - however they were mindful of the need to change something, and Mourinho, who was immediate available, gave them the opportunity to make the change. Managers with Mourinho's pedigree are rare commodities and you need to strike quickly.

People dont generally like change - and the immediate response of 'I dont like this'....becomes 'acceptance' and then with luck engagement and enthusiasm. Many of us are in the 'I dont like this phase'. One thing Im sure of is (given we are close to the relegation zone) we cant get much worse, and it is unimaginable that Jose will take us closer to relegation. This is a new start, a change. Jose will not have any emotional ties (or promises) made to the squad - he has the opportunity to be far more ruthless. If you listen to player interviews the resounding mantra when asked about poor performance was "we need to stay together". Its a laudable sentiment - but easy. It implies no-one wants to rock the boat. Not really what's required when the boat is sailing towards the relegation rocks.

I liked Poch's dignity, the way he embraced rival mangers, his refusal to slag people off. Mourinho has in the past shown a distinct lack of dignity. I hope he can change this.

There were mixed reactions like this when Redknapp was appointed. Then he got a point at Highbury with the 4-4 draw in his first game and many were won over to at least give him a chance. And overall he did well and took us to the next level.

Because of his past with chelsea, fans will not be patient with mourinho, but for me he has the rest of the season to get to grips with the club. TBF I've never really been that bothered by chelsea or west Ham, so it is not the same for me.

I can see us winning the league cup or even the europa league with him, and I can see him genuinely bemused when a good proportion of the fans are not overly impressed if we are not also qualifying for the CL.
I too will judge him primarily on league position, and a minimum of turning our ground into a fortress.

The thing i like about Jose and his management style... is he ALWAYS protects his players.

heck yeah the media will love him, he always takes the attention away from the players. he will always take the heat and the criticism away from the team. he is one of those who is a different person in front of a camera, then who he is every day in training.

I admit i will miss poch, but Mourinho is a winner. he knows how to set teams up to win a match. we might have to play dirty and unattractive football. but sometimes that's the price u pay if you want to win something.

He doesn't always protect his players he had public fall outs with a number of them at Man Utd

I'm hurting and probably will for some time
This Managerial horror show is more a ten second fuck than a satisfying relationship
more a rape than even a one night stand.

We did this once before to Uncle Martin and didn't that go well.
Ramos who actually won something but only the League Cup,
Redknapp, Boas and Sherwood and a decade in the football wilderness
until we restored some pride and dignity with Mauricio
a man with a plan, a project, a vision but the rest of the footballing world didn't approve.

We've sold out all that and taken on the pundits and newspapers agenda for us.
Now they can relax especially with the appointment of the 'not so special one'
We've rejoined the herd, no longer doing it differently.
Frank Sinatra weeps for us.

Lets hope Mourinho can go one better that Pochettino and win the Champion's League.
Anything else apart from the Premiership is a mere bauble
and that's what we've sold our souls for.

'But you didn't win anything' will be inscribed on your grave
and there is no guarantee that we will anything in the foreseeable future
but hey the man's a winner and that's all that matters.
Our inferiority complex exposed for all to see.

Thanks Mauricio and your staff and forgive us.
You don't owe us anything but we owe you bigly.
All that effort, then you finish it with "bigly"!

At my age I don't often get excited, but I am excited now. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Poch has gone and we need to back Mourinho. The club has made this decision and it is a huge financial investment. This is money that we cannot afford to waste because who knows where any further investment would come from. Mourinho has committed to the club in a way that Poch failed to do in recent times and needs to given a chance.
