Video makes him look like Paul Scholes reincarnate. Passing range and understanding of space looks insane.

As you say he's been linked to bigger clubs than us. Have to clock this one as a bit too good to be true.

Good Scholes comparison, tackling too!

Looks magic and just what we'd need in Wembley; his passing eats up big pitches.

Seems to be the only place that still gives relative value for money is the French league.

These players of lesser clubs that may well be on the radar of the superclubs when the window opens are the sort of player we should be making modricesque moves for. Get in early and if he's good enough then fair play he'll get there eventually

Would seriously strengthen our midfield engine room.

I think deals like Modric are very much a thing of the past now. If a player is attainable now their agents hawk them around every conceivable club to get a bigger slice of the pie and are happy to wait til the last possible minute to grab a few more £££. Our purchase of Modric was a bit 'freak' IMO.

I do however think we need to look for a replacement for Dembele who is getting on and has continual injury issues, and Seri looks a good option. I'd like to see Winks used further forward than CM where I think he lacks a bit of sheer strength.

I thought so as well, that a signing like this would give us a chance to slowly phase Dembele out with injuries/age piling up.

Where do people see this guy playing?

As an attacking CM or Eriksen competition?

Nonsense, there are definitely always deals to be had. In recent years players like Payet, Kante and Wanyama prove it.

There certainly is a case for a player like this considering Dembele's injuries, I'm just not sure we would break the bank for him (this looks like a £25m+ deal or even release clause at £35m). That said I'd also like to see Winks get more time next to the DM, as I think he is a super talent.

I'd take Seri over say Barkley, but I'd rather us focus on what seems to be the #1 priority, the pacey attacker like Lemar, and then see what is left in the kitty after.

Here's a quote attributed to him also:-

"There are a lot of clubs that follow me. But there is nothing done," Seri said, as quoted by the Sun. "If I leave, it will be to join a club where there is a real desire to play football as in Nice."

"And I'm not going to be on the bench, I'm leaving only if I know I'm going to play," he added.

Doesn't really fly with Poch's philosophy. Although that's the Sun so probably made up

I can't view the link at work ... but I assume you mean badly timed ... Scholes was an awful tackler taking the player more times than the ball (everything else in his game was awesome) :D

The way he switches play is perfect for our system. Really good range of passing and seems quite direct. Only seen the obligatory YouTube vid but seems a good fit. Would add something a bit different to our midfield options too.

From a quick look around (sadly not a big follower of French football) -

Whoscored has him as playing CM 29 times for Nice (8 in DM) but has tackling as a calculated weakness based on his stats.

Barca fans talking of him as a Rakitic replacement (Rafinha and even Iniesta mentioned too). Someone suggesting him being Barca's Kante was shot down quickly due to defensive skills however.

Sounding like a good playmaker with high work rate and good physical attributes, which tallies with the video.

So could be an alternative for Dembele, similar to how Winks was used, but can also play in the Eriksen role.
