Tottenham want Manchester United's Javier Hernandez as their transfer-happy summer rolls on

Champions have been approached by the Londoners but rate the striker at DOUBLE the amount Spurs would like to pay

Cheap as Chich: Optimistic Spurs hope to buy Hernandez for around £8m

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is making a shock move for Manchester United's Mexican goal machine Javier Hernandez - but will have to pay £15million.
Big-spending Spurs have approached the Premier League champions about the little striker, who seemingly cannot get close to winning a regular spot in manager David Moyes' No.1 side.
Villas-Boas knows he needs a new finisher and there are few better than the man known as Chicharito, whose record is excellent despite his frequent spells out of United's starting XI.
Spurs could sell Jermain Defoe before the window shuts - the England striker is being chased by several clubs, who are ready to bid if they encouraged.
Hernandez would be a more-than-adequate replacement and would fit in with their style, and help ease the demands of a busy season at home and abroad.
United are not pushing out the Mexico international, who has never given them any trouble, but a sizeable bid may see his spell at Old Trafford end.
Spurs, chacteristically, would like to drive a hard bargain and land Hernandez for around £7m-£8m, but the asking price is double that and will stay that way.
Moyes needs a quick decision on the 25-year-old, as he would have to assess whether he needs an extra striker himself - a squad man happy to make only a handful of appearances - to replace Hernandez.

Would definitely buy if a striker is on the way out. 12m would probably do it.

We're having a laugh with that bid. Personally I don't think £15m is that bad, especially if we can include some add-ons in the fee.

Even if there was a chance he isnt the type of striker we need.

We need a all round striker or someone like a Benteke as we have a natural finisher in Soldado

I've been hoping for this for a while, this guy is seriously good IMO. Has improved his all round game and would be an awesome option him and Soldado up top, they would score shit loads. Trouble is he seems pretty loyal to MU even though he is fourth choice there. I'd pay 15m for him in a heartbeat.

I hate to be the guy who's always arguing with you beats, but I disagree. AVB's system requires a natural finisher, and we need two of those to have some rotation and competition/in case of injury. Soldado-Chicharito-Defoe would be a perfect strikeforce: Soldado and Chich to compete and rotate, Defoe to bring on late if it isn't working.

If we sign him I will christen my first born Daniel Franco Andre Reid.

We'd win the title. I'm not even joking. That team is fucking ridiculous.

I understand with what you are saying but Soldado was one of the best finishers in Europe last season and if he isnt working. I would much rather have something different i.e. Bring on a player who get make space for the likes of Paulinho, Lamela and etc. to break in to.

If we are up against it and need a goal and the opposition is defending like beavers I would much rather have a Benteke on than a Hernandes. Especially when we are creating fuck all for the striker, we need a striker that can make his own chances as well instead of waiting for the midfield to actually see his run and give it to him.

Even when ade was shocking last year his build play was decent and was exactly what we needed at times despite his inability to score

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

If we got Hernández for £7m, we'd need to start a 'let's laugh at Man Utd' thread. But still, I'd so much rather have him than Damiao as second-choice/rotation striker. He gets goals at opportune times - i.e. he's a lucky ****. :p

But that luck comes from his reactions, positioning and knowing where the goal is. If he would consider coming, put in a bid please Levy.

I agree, Soldado needs serving and if our wingers+ creative players are having a bad day, we need another option. Defoe can sometimes score wonder goals but we need someone new, fresh and younger who is eager and can score a screamer if we can't create in the box, not someone like Defoe who is probably going to have an interview soon when he says he needs to play football and wants to leave.

This guy is quality, and DO NOT underestimate just how much the club would make in kit sales and brand recognition across Mexico and parts of the US. Every Mexican football fan bows down to Chicharito.

Why is everyone saying this is ridiculous? He hasnt had a look in at Utd in well over a year and they have a wealth of options upfront. However... if we were looking for Utd players who are (seemingly) out of favour, then Kagawa would be an awesome shout! (though massively unlikely seen as we're going for Erikson)

Had a quick look at his stats and he has 33 in 77 games for united, with the amount of sub appearances that is impressive stuff. Very good option if we can get him

Edit- Goal every 93 minutes according to transfermkt!

Hernandez has been injured so far this season/pre-season. It's a bit early to judge how Moyes will/won't use him.

Also bare in mind he would be signing knowing he would be 2nd choice/sub option striker here too so may not be a HUGE upgrade in playing time.

That said if they want £12mish if he wanted to come would be a fantastic addition to the squad though.
