Skov Olsen at Brugge looks a decent player - both scores and assists. He’s still only 24 and has been linked with some bigger clubs including the scrum. He plays right forward (same as Johnson).
Mediocre. Looked a huge prospect when he played in Denmark, not been very good since, at least for the national team. Very predictable. Doubt he can make the step up, definitely not what we need.

I know you’re a fan @King of the Lane, Lookman having a storming game against Napoli so far. 2 goals in the first 30 mins. I’m still of the belief that we shouldn’t be looking at right footers and I still have questions about how he’d work as a touchline winger because he does suit that SS role so well plus if a move back to the pl might stunt him but IF we wanted another right footer and we can’t get Marmoush (which seems likely as quite a few reports linking him with Liverpool) I would certainly consider him.

Yeah im not sure he would fully suit our system (if we continue with the touchline winger approach) but there arent many options out there other than Marmoush. Im praying Salah signs a new contract and we go all in for him.

I've also been watching Ricci a lot since you mentioned him and I can see the Rodri comparisons that people are putting on him. We are starting to be linked to him along with City. I think him or Ederson could be turned into a top DM in the future. Probably have no chance at any of the above. I reckon Semenyo and Gomes are far more likely.

I’m glad you watched Ricci! The guy is pure silk. This is a worthwhile report to read (saves me having to write one). It highlights how he is in possession, he’s statistically one of the most press resistant midfielders in Europe. Literally perfect for a high possession team. Huge amount potential. And he’s a Base client…

Davis replacing Davies? That sounds a bit challenging for some on here.

Reckon Semenyo is already too rich for Levy.

Anyone seen Borja Sainz play? Apparently been on a completely different level for Norwich this season in terms of general play on the ball and end product, very talented player who's way too good for the championship. LW, 23, will have 18 months left on his contract in January (summer 2026, yes it is that close!), probably going to be back to back championship potm and already has 10 goals this season (second most goals scored in the top 4 leagues in england, only Haaland has more). Lots of opposing team supporters say he was easily the best player on the pitch when playing them and can't wait to see him leave. Only scores bangers as well

Werner out, Sainz in?

Also Dennis Cirkin for LB anyone? Again another one excelling in the championship and counts as club trained, 2026 contract (18 months left). Talented, comfortable on the ball, good going forward and getting in the box, decently quick, good work rate, front foot type of player etc, still only 22. Probably better options out there but there are much worse ones too
Sunderland are doing very well and Cirkin has been a big part of that. Couldn't say whether he'd be the standard we need but he has a number of qualities that would suit us.

Prefer Semenyo to Mbeumo. Just think he fits our style of play better and can be more of a wide attack the FB winger. Also doesn’t hurt he’s got a good linkup with Solanke from last season.

I watched the Wolves Vs Palace match on Saturday evening. I thought Matheus Cunha played very well in a similar role to Deki.

He's a great player. I had my doubts. Never really watched him for Atletico and there was a lot of hype about him. Still think his problem is consistency. We're seeing him in flashes at Wolves where he plays every minute. Can he make the step up to another bigger club and be a regular contributor or will he continue to ebb and flow. That's my current take at least.

DM shouts. Whatever happened to Cacqueret at Lyon? Was brilliant alongside Bruno Guimares.

Something is going on with him and Sage, not sure the details but he was put into the reserves and only made the bench against Lille. He did have a bit of a hit and miss start to the season but he wasn't that bad.

The two stand outs for me at Lyon currently are Cherki (who has really impressed me this season) and Fofana.

The trouble with Semenyo is that apparently he has a contract until 2029. To buy a player with such a long deal it would require a fee that we should only reserve for players that would be seen as real difference makers and will be sure to start in our best 11. I really like Semenyo, but is he prime Son level? Because to take the next step we really need absolute top class players. In terms of adding more options to the squad, I think we are more likely to look at or be linked with, the likes of Mbuemo, Lookman or Malen, as they all will be available in the summer at reasonable prices, due to the length of their contracts. I like Mbuemo, but I'm not sure he's someone who would take us to the next level. But for a good price, he'd add some quality depth to our squad. I can understand why me might be interested in Lookman, though I wouldn't be too exicted by him. Malen I expect us to be linked with us at some point, but don't think he'd improve us.

pressing positions for me are DM and LB positions.

Left back, I’d say Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves would fit our system well and compete with Udogie.

For defensive midfield I’d be happy with either Exequiel Palacios, Ederson or Manuel Locatelli.

However id love Andrey Santos if we are looking at younger. This boy is top class and Chelsea have a great player on their hands (If they recall him and play him).

Santos is having a great season but i'm very doubtful Chelsea will sell him to us. Maresca has already hinted he might have a spot at Chelsea after his loan.

Yeah I edited my post to say Chelsea are lucky to have him. Whether Chelsea waste him and use him or just going to fade out and be a profit making buy.
