Unconventional, thinking outside the box - I like it!

I'm going to get pelters for this but I would love a Henderson/milner type player, fit all season, talks non stop, leads by example, works off the ball more than on the ball.

An experienced character is essential.

Hard to find though, I'm thinking Kimmich, Goretzka but need to be vocal.
Kimmich wouldn’t give us a second glance abd Goretzka has fallen off a cliff physically - no doubt a consequence of his drastic muscle “gains” over the years.

How has Angelo Stiller at Stuttgart fared this season as he was superb last year.

Would certainly be a name to consider for the DM role who is also very progressive.
Stuttgart aren't doing particularly well this season, currently sitting in 8th just bellow BVB who have also been disappointing, Frankfurt are the break out stars thus far thanks in no small part to Marmoush. Stuttgart really miss Guirassy. I like Stiller, he has potential to be a very good deep playmaker, but as I mentioned in last season's scouting thread he isn't really a defensive minded player. Stuttgart usually play with a double pivot of Stiller and Karazor with Millot sitting just ahead of them. Stiller will be the link between the defence and attack in the build up phase but Karazor is very much the defensive muscle and does most of the dirty work. If we were looking for a DM who could aid in moving the ball up the field Stiller would be great but defensively he wouldn't offer much of what we are lacking. If we had a more defensive minded B2B 8 alongside Maddison then we could look for more of a deep lying playmaker in the DM/6 position but with two AM's i think it would leave us far to exposed.

Isn't he more Emre Can't now?

Played a key role in their route the UCL final last season and was made captain.
Then got back in the Germany squad for Euros and got minutes.
Now club captain.

It appears hes doing pretty well.

He's a Base player which is probably why. To be fair to the lad he has been one of the stand out CM/DM regista's in Seria A thus far this season. He does seem to be progressing well and has really been working on his game. He's very versatile and can play deeper or higher up. I suggested him last summer in the scouting thread but in truth at that point he still had a lot of holes to his game and also not quite the profile we really need. This season he has been stepping up a lot and I certainly think we should be keeping an eye on him. My real question is more down to him not really being an Anchor, he is more inclined to move higher up the pitch. Tameze is Torino's primary DM which allows Ricci to be an influence in build up. Another player that might not really suit what we fans are looking for in a DM in a defensive profile but certainly a player that would suit our system in general. Kid is a smooth watch regardless.

Save me doing a profile of him, this is worth a listen to introduce you to him

And there here is a standard video of him..

Has Wharton gone off the boil due to Palace being out of form?

I was really surprised to see Estupinian start on the bench for Brighton on Sunday. Has he fallen out of favour there? Or is he working his way back from injury? He’d be great for us I think.

Another name to pull out of the hat regarding midfield and leadership, although I don’t know how his injury recovery is going, would be Lewis Ferguson at Bologna. Probably not a popular choice tho. Could be a good mentor for Archie, what with a very similar background and upbringing.

He's not back from his ACL he suffered in April yet. Supposedly he's training with a view to playing in November but it still remains to be seen how he recovers.

He's had a mixed start with some up and down performances,, but think that is partly due to the team and he's not such an unknown quantity now.

Pre injury, do you think he’d have been a good fit for what we’re lacking?

I don’t see us signing Wharton now we have Gray. We already have a promising youngster for that position.

Wharton is a good player but Ange's system demands a lot from the 6 and he doesn't have the ability to cover ground quickly, dominate duels etc that is required.

From a mental perspective yes for sure but from a technical one, whilst he is a very good versatile player I wouldn’t have gone for him. I do like him and he would suit one of the the two AM roles as he’s hard worker but there are other more players I’d prefer there.

Think Mbuemo would be outstanding for us.

He reminds me of Mane before he made the step up to Pool.

Someone who will go up a level once he leaves Brentford.
He’s my first choice signing. Think Lookman would be a good alternative too.

What’s interesting is the split in opinion across the fan base on which wing we should be looking to improve. In this case obviously Mbuemo is a left footed RW and Lookman a right footed left winger, although he has played a decent amount on the right and is currently playing as a SS.

I guess it’s just interesting in that now Johnson is doing so well there is maybe fewer people shouting for a new RW and with Son and Werner both looking somewhat off form a new LW seems to have become the more desirable.

In amongst that we also have 3 young right footed wingers who will be looking to stake a claim over the next few seasons.

Considering we are likely only to be putting a semi significant fee towards one WF in the near future im very curious to see which wing Ange and the club prioritises.

I agree, Moore looks like he could play both sides, Odobert looks more comfortable on the left, Min-Hyeok is an unknown quantity, only Johnson has staked his position at the minute.
It feels a bit underwhelming but has some possible huge potential.
If Moore and Min-Hyeok kick on then we need someone on the left, but more versatile the better.

Too late to go for Nusa?
Having a fantastic game for Norway. Going to get overshadowed by Haaland taking the Norwegian goal record, but clearly man of the match.

Only just gone to RB Leipzig in the summer I believe. Unless he has a release clause I can't see him being available for a while.
