On the flip side of that, he'd also be playing/training with one of the very best strikers in world football, as well as working under one of the best & most respected young coaches in Europe.

I get your point but there'd be positives for him to take into account also.

That’s true but players need to play. I think if we signed him we’d eventually end up having to loan him out

Absolutely. I was just clutching at straws, in hope of finding something positive.

Indeed. I just don’t think we’re in for this lad for the stated reasons that absolute like for like backup to the world’s best striker is counter productive. If Kane were ever to leave (may the lord strike me down) i’m sure we’d be all over him.

Really is better to just play regularly than chatting with Kane after training.

Bild reported earlier that his club had offered him a new contract on significantly larger wages. Also with a clause that allows him to leave for €10m if they are relegated.

However the president is quoted as saying “it’s up to the player now” so he’s obviously not signed it yet.

Interestingly, it mentions us and RB Leipzig as the clubs interested in him.

I really like this kid. Sign him up, start the chemistry, build his fitness and technique. Could well be our wild card even for this remaining of the season.

Really, he can't be more worse than Llorente.

Great. Let’s bring this kid in, destroy any confidence or rhythm he has in his game by sitting him on the bench and only playing him sporadically. Then criticise him for not banging in the few chances he has in the 5 minutes he gets at the end of matches that are already won/lost. And 12 monthes down the line we can all deem him not good enough for the prem, a flop, waste of money, scouts haven’t got a clue etc... and rinse and repeat until Harry Kane leaves/retires...

That's bollocks he's 18. Nobody's gonna put that much pressure on him.

Completely different situation to Llorente.

Bring him in and let him train with the team through the end of the season. He can then get his chance during preseason to show what he is made of. Based on that, we can send him out on loan or keep him in the squad. It would not hurt him a bit to work with Harry for a few months and be taught how to practice and conduct yourself to get the most out of your abilities as a striker. With that base, he may prove he is ready to contribute on some basis now or be much better prepared to make the most of a loan next year.

Iversen, Ferdinand, Rebrov, Postiga, Zamora, Kanoute, Mido, Bent, Pavlyuchenko, Soldado, Janssen, now Llorente. All promised so much more than they delivered, though some had more opportunity to succeed than others. Makes you appreciate Defoe, Keane, even simeone like Armstrong all the more.

And who can forget the mercurial Qu Bo or Edson Silva?

Berbatov probably qualifies for the latter category as well.

Oh god yes, but we were all madly in love with Berbatov. I was speaking more about those who were unfairly under appreciated. Keane and Defoe both seem to get less credit than you’d hope for 100+ goal strikers for us, while Armstrong is remembered by most as a failure despite his league ppg being marginally worse than Keane and marginally better than Defoe in a much worse Spurs side.

and crouch
I remember Crouch fondly and he’s a great character but I can’t class him amongst those who I’m grateful for compared to our failed strikers because, for all he contributed overall, he still only managed 12 league goals in two seasons.

Like Kanouté, he brought a lot more to the team but he failed in his primary function. Additionally, and perhaps not his fault, I hated how his mere presence encouraged us to hoof it long.

They've all had their moments......Postiga had a moment

Kanoute was good to watch, great hold up play and good feet
