Journo says he is available on the cheap - a la Ade - so if we wanted him I don't think that would be a problem.

Still looking at 100k a week wages. The real expense of players is their wages and like I say we need to be smarter in the transfer market than pay that kind of money for someone not good enough for a very poor England team.

It's about onions? Some sort of metophorical point about layers?

I think Milner gets a tough time because he went to Man City for big money and isn't world-class. We hate players going for fees like £30m when they aren't worth it and they unfairly get labelled shit.

Like Lescott he was highly rated before going to Man City.

My concern isn't that he isn't good enough. It's that his transfer fee would be big and his wages huge and I'm not sure where he fits in.

Think we need to be smarter in the market than go for the likes of Milner.

Ooooohhhhhh, no no no no no. Its this new player I've heard of, its all about him, Oinions. He is quality!

I thought he was a cricketer?
Yes but Onions can't get into the England Cricket team because that England team is really good.
Whereas Milner does get into the Football team for England for the opposite reasons.

Urgh, lol... no, I think Milner is generally underrated by many, but should still not be a top priority for us.

You think, he is shite

Its all about opinions my friend!

You can't lay it out as a statement of fact. I for one do not think he is shite. I think he would do well for us actually. It is a sqaud game now-a-days after all.... there are definately games where he would be a better option then some of the midfielders we have and games where he wouldn't, but to stone-wall say he is no good.....?!

I think that he gets a bad press. Is it because he isn't doing flashy things? He seems to get seen as some boring square headed yokel who can only do the basics. Well, he does those basics extemely well and thats more than can be said for a lot of our players recently. If we were doing the things that he does game-in, game-out, we would be holding on to our leads and be top of the league or there abouts.

What is it about him that people do not rate?

He is a solid passer who's completion rate must be up there with the best, doesn't give away possesion needlessly, has a very good shot on him, always has an end product when he gets down the line, works hard, chases back, doesn't give up, tenacious, strong in the tackle, has the right attitude......

I could go on.

What is it exactly in footballing terms that nobody like's about him? Please tell me.

Are You James Milner???

Yes very serious mate. Falcao always he scores for fun been scoring for fun will continue scoring for fun. Got that.

Yeah i have "got that", i think we have all noticed he scores for fun, the point i was making, as will be pointed out by about a million others is we have no chance of signing him, ever.. we need to find his equivalent in their development stages, ie: when they are young and cheap.. (y)

Non one can declare that we have no chance.....money talks in this business...so if DL wants to really puts his real intentions and move this beloved team forward we need to make a huge statement were push comes to shove and get him or his equivalent. And please no young, cheap boyscout still developing. We have our own kids developing in the likes of Tom and his likes.

Money does indeed talk, and there are several clubs with a truck load more of it than us, where exactly do we get all this cash to make a statement of intent?

I just want to know what footballing reasons people have for not liking him. Thats all.

No one has come up with any yet.

"He is a solid passer who's completion rate must be up there with the best, doesn't give away possesion needlessly, has a very good shot on him, always has an end product when he gets down the line, works hard, chases back, doesn't give up, tenacious, strong in the tackle, has the right attitude......"

84.3% was his pass completion last season, which was 69th in the league overall, not bad ... but still below midfield dynamos such as mark gower and ben watson. he has a good shot on him yet he only scored 3 times last season ... always has an end product when he gets down the line .. 22% cross completion rate, compared to lennon's 26% who is often criticised in that regard. the rest can be summarised as "he tries hard".

he's just a very ordinary footballer whose standout quality is his apparent work rate, we need more than that.

I like your stats.

But they don't really mean anything. In the nicest possible sense. Many managers/coaches/ respected people in the game rate Milner as a good player. City paid £30m for him, and we've only received that once that I can recall, for Berba. Oh, and Joe Allen had the highest pass completion rate, and Swansea cleaned up last season, just like Liverpool are doing this time. See what stats mean?

Milner is a good, solid, dependable player. I agree he isn't what we want as first choice every week, but if he was cheap enough, he'd be a good squad player for us.

I just want to know what footballing reasons people have for not liking him. That's all.

He's slow, in fact slow in the fact that grass actually grows in the period between him collecting the ball and passing the damn thing.

He's another Bentley, but with a beer gut.

That my friend in the smallest of nutshells is why i would sooner platt snot than have Me Milner within a country mile of WHL.

Where there is a will....there is a way...and that is up to admin to find the financing. We have some many gurus at admin level to put financing for the new stadium together...they know how to find the financing for such types of players. No excuses. If we really need certain players in important positions and I think there are 3 positions we really need to improve to league challenging proportions and most of all to make our top players remain at Tottenham, we need to get them in. As a certain managers had said......we invest in the best...

I changed my mind totally about Milner after watching him play for the U21's at WHL. Was the best player on the pitch by a mile that night. I've watched him carefully since and in my opinion the guy has real quality. Maybe not the flash style player, but his attitude is his strength. The guy is a winner. Don't think we're interested though.
