Few messages from a Coventry supporting friend:
He’s class mate.
Just ghosts past players, great football brain, decent finisher.
But ghosting past league 1 players and prem players is different story.
We had Ryan Kent on loan for Liverpool and Klopp has taken him back to play for them. Madders is 10 times the player at the minute. But hes only played 20 league games and has spent most of the season out with injured ankle. He’s been back a few weeks

His freekicks are decent, his 1 touch play is great, if you have other players to compliment.
Maybe not as athletic as Alli though and that could prove his downfall in making it at top level but have no doubt he will play premier league football for most of career.

Maddison is very skilful though. Hes not that slow either, but prob needs to work on physicality. Although, he was out for 3 months there are seemed to come back a bit stronger.

Here is the video. He was only 17 for most of this.

a lot of the early stuff in the video is of U21 football but the way he can turn players in the middle of the field.

His close control and "tight area" dribbling are somewhat similar to Modric, but IMHO his overall play is a cross between Modric, Dier, Alonso and Carrick. I feel he has very good "upside"........Hope he can be nurtured properly to reach his full potential - whether that is with us or otherwise.

That's a lot of names!

David Pleat has a great eye for future stars, the Youtube video looks great (don't they always?!) and he looks like the kind of player we could definitely do with adding to the mix (a bit of direct trickery), so all seems well worth a punt.

Since I have never seen him play I simply don't have much of an opion about him. But early "promises" is not enough ,and that is something the Spurs scouts are very aware of I am sure.
A few years back Spurs made an off for Will Hughes (Derby) according to ITK Jasper but Derby wanted far too much. He was seen as the "next big thing". He still could become a good player but he hasn't progressed as expected...

Very fact that we didn't eventually sign him should tell us that our current Football league scouts know what they are doing. But what is key is with Pochettino at helm, we now have greater pulling power when it comes to attracting young talented players. Even parents/guardians should reckon going to our club has greater chance of career progression than joining likes of Chelsea or City or even Arse.

Type of players we really should go for. If the scouting quality is there, we should really be leaning on them. For every Dele Alli there's a couple of Bostocks, but with the lower fees it's a much more palatable risk.

Finally got round to watching the clip, thanks for sharing (y)

The first thing I'll say, is something I noticed on one of the many freekicks he scored from. He scored, kept it low & curled it around the left hand side of the wall. He then stood there, nonchalant, as if to say "ha, this is easy, look at me!".. I like that! He was clearly better than those he was playing against, and I like a lad who isn't short on confidence, and has faith in his own ability. Best of all, the clip clearly showed, despite his obvious ability, he's not a selfish player at all.

Which brings me onto point 2, and something I actually don't like. Player comparisons. However, after seeing his excellent first touch/close control, his confidence & ability when seemingly 'penned in' & in a tight situation, his ability to get his head up & not only spot a pass, but also pull it off, and his shooting ability, both in play & from set-pieces, I can't help but think of Modric.

I know some (many?) will think that's an absurd statement to make, but it's just what I saw in the above clip. Seeing as I've said that, I may as well go all in, and based solely upon that video of him, I really hope there's some substance in this particular rumour. Yes we're stacked for midfielders, but how many of those midfielders are Modric-esque, and have the ability to unlock something with a touch of skill & quick thinking?

Exactly. Bostock always gets mentioned as a flop but he cost us what, 700k? Gamble worth taking.

Also, wasn't it basically a poor attitude that ultimately meant he failed to match the promise he showed?

I'm sure I read something (many) things on here about a questionable attitude?
