From a business stand point, this move makes a lot of sense. Player swapping to get Lo Celso gone is totally reasonable. It’s probably the best way to maximize his value at this point. Ramsey is a good player with a lot of potential, and Lange knows what he is buying. He’s also english and not on large wages, so even if it doesn’t work out we should be able to shift him.
But from a squad building perspective, I don’t see it. We don’t desperately need association trained players (we need club trained players). Our midfield needs work, but it seems like we have an abundance of players that fill that role + a bunch of youth players with big potential that also fit that role. Most of us would say we either need a more creative player or a really classy holding midfielder rather than another box crasher.
Good deals for square pegs seem like bad squad building at a crucial moment.
