Dont we already have too many central midfielders?

Maddison, Sarr, Biss, Bentancur, Gray, Bergvall, Skipp, Hojbjerg (unless sold), and it looks like Kulu's best position in this system. Then you've got Devine and Donley who need opportunities too.
What if Ange is "tweaking" how he uses his CMs a little?

What if he wants two attacking CMs - like we had on Wednesday with Maddison and Kulusevski ahead of Bissouma?

I had expected Eze to play on the LW or as a back-up to Maddison if he came in. But, what if Ange is looking for another attacking CM to play alongside a Maddison (or a Kulusevski)? That would make sense for Ramsey then.

Bergvall is clearly is that type of player - but less sure that Sarr or Bentancur really fit, as both seem to be better playing a little deeper.

Bissouma and Gray would seem to be the best fit at the deeper role -so maybe Ange is trying to change the box-to-box role to be more attacking.

Ramsey looks a good fit for the way we want to play. I think people (myself included) are just looking for some exciting and sexy forward players!

As an individual player I really like him, before his injuries he looked destined to be an England regular in no time.
But as a player we need right now…. aside from being home grown which will definitely help the squad, I think there are other areas in greater need of improving. If it means we don’t get a top drawer winger or 9 then im going to be quite disappointed.

In Ange we trust but if feels an underwhelming way to spend 20+ million. Recognise he plays multiple positions and is HG but if that’s the best thing about the player it doesn’t make me as excited as even the two youngsters we’ve signed

I think we will, Ange mentioned the attack not quite being right enough times, and we've had way too much ITK on wingers not to get some upgrades.

Before our interest this summer I’d heard the name but never read anything about him or noticed him on the pitch.

That is all.

He's a box to box midfielder who can also play in the creative maddison role or on the left (though more of an inside left rather than a touchline winger like we use)
Majority of his player traits (over 120 odd games) 60% defensive, 42% shot attempts, 40% chances created this compared to PL other attacking midfielder's / wingers.

Don't ask me how these are compiled but there's one for every plyer in FotMob.

More reports coming out from Argentina about this supposed deal.

This journo quoted is followed by Fabrizio Romano.

Translation:
Gio Lo Celso WILL PLAY for Aston Villa.

He will be a partner of Dibu Martínez, Emi Buendía and Enzo Barrenechea.

He returns to the hands of Unai Emery, a coach who knew how to exploit him at Villarreal. 🔙

If the plan is to rebuild the midfield & we have acceptable bids for Hojbjerg, Skipp, & Bentancur then fine. But otherwise this makes no sense to me as we are currently overloaded in that area.

Given we will only have 3 free squad places (if Royal and Spence go) for EL, if only one leaves it will just be 2 after sales unless as you say we sell a Kulu, Bentancur or Biss hypothetically. With that in mind it’s pretty clear that Ramsey would be taking the Eze/Doué/Baena spot. Would mean our two attacking signings would be Ramsey and Neto (if we can sign him). I like Ramsey but I personally think he’s not a creative playmaker or one to unlock defences. If however we do sell one aforementioned extra players then it makes much more sense.

Just watch like 10 minutes of South American football to see what's happenning there to know that "Premier League is too physical" is just bullshit lol.
Yeah, playing 3 years under mediocre counter attacking coaches certainly doesn't suit his style
Being too physical doesn't to only mean srtong challenges. It's the intensity and relentless pace of the game that means constant work on and off the ball. Also a different standard of refereeing here that expects players to play through contact.

I think it's obvious two of those are out the door.

That leaves Sarr and Bergval for the 8.

Bissouma and Gray for the 6.

Bentancur needs to find his place.

Hall and Devine are a bit behind.

We cannot go into the season hoping for Bentancur to pick up again.

Anges system is full on energy.

Last season we severely suffered as we didn't have the legs and depth.

Liverpool at their peak, had 6/7 mids fighting for 3 spots.

But they all got adequate playing time because Klopps system was relentless.

We need the same.

There will be times we have an injury or 2 and there'll be times when some are struggling a bit.

There's also different games for different types.

Some we may need Bergvall's dribbling through midfield, others will need Sarr's boundless energy.

Hojbjerg and Skipp got significant minutes last season, weren't up to Anges task and we had nothing beyond them to help.

The engine room is crucial to what Anges team does. Improve that and our ability to retain the ball In attack and we'll see a huge difference.

Neither is Eze most likely but Beana might. You’re missing the point, It doesn’t matter if Doué isn’t, I’m just pointing out we have a spot and a need for a versatile creative playmaker more so then another B2B advanced 8/10.

Our midfield is packed and we are at a point where we barely have any free squad places so we have to be very selective about who we bring in. What our most pressing needs are and the overall squad balance. I actually rate Ramsey but i don’t see it as a profile we are most in need of given we likely only have two spots to play with.
