“I’d like to reassure all Spurs fans that these were sh*t before the new stadium and will remain sh*t for many years afterwards. COYS, Daniel.”

I will be happy as long as the club keeps climbing up the Deloitte Football Money League, that's the league that really matters.

Wages won’t be a problem for this if it’s a loan deal imo. Otherwise why did we bring in Werner last January? I think DL cares more about lengthier wage commitments for these players. So he’s not someone we’d be looking to bring in permanently unless Grealish was prepared to come down to something like £150k a week.

Apologies, I will keep any criticism of our dear leader to the appropriate thread.
It's everywhere though and it's the same people making the same point over and over again with the same people rating it. I know it's frustrating if you don't like ENIC but think how it makes the forums for others.

I am sorry for my snarky reply. The problem is ENIC affect everything at the club and frankly a lot of the issues around the club come back to the way they run the club.

We know how you all feel, but I'm not sure how venting in every thread changes anything. I just think make your views known and move on to other things.

ENIC has put all of the risk of building the new stadium onto the club by putting the debt to do this against the club. However, the club supposedly cannot realise the benefit ENIC said we would have of being able to financially compete with the big clubs as we have limits on how much we can spend (these limits keeping us roughly where we were before building the new stadium).

ENIC, however, will get the benefit of the stadium vastly increasing the value of the club and therefore their potential profit when they sell with no financial risk.

Which club has built a stadium without it being financed?

I think the fact we have roughly £150m net spend each season shows we’re already spending more than we did pre the new stadium.

We are spending more because the general levels of spending in the premier league has risen significantly since before the new stadium. We are still buying either young potential or mid range players for mid range prices with the occasional slightly higher priced player (to get us in the sweet spot of 4th - 7th).

I don't have a problem with building a new stadium with financing per se but I thought the purpose of building the new stadium (and taking on the financing) was to allow us to compete financially with the top clubs in Europe and we clearly aren't doing that. So it seems to me the real purpose of the stadium was to vastly increase the value of the club with the competing stuff just being PR from ENIC.

Tbf though, every team in the league is spending more now? TV money and such has went up.

Come on, your response is disingenuous. We’ve been one of the highest net spenders in europe over the past few seasons. Considering we were basically operating at zero net spend before the stadium you can’t seriously claim this only happening because prem teams are spending more???

Our recruitment strategy is very similar to what helped Arsenal compete. They weren’t buying any recognised star players until 4 years into their project with Arteta. We’re only 18 months in with Ange, building a squad for a totally different style of football. I suspect the plan is to pad out the squad with young players with high potential and as they mature supplement the team with a few higher profile ready made players (as Arsenal have done).

I have linked (Link) a post by Jakuba I think answers your point regarding the net spend. In regards to a recruitment strategy, we have heard all this before about another project and we are 2 or 3 years away whilst the club is the 8th richest in the world whilst we have won one trophy in 24 years.

Werner and Johnson have pace. What we don’t have with our wings is any footballing intelligence or skill on the ball.
It's so funny how no matter what our squad looks like there will always people who think our problems boil down to a lack of pace. It is usually that first, and followed by a lack of 'bums off seats' players.
