I don't think they could get more than £35-40M from anyone for him based on his career and performances to date. Put a 21 year old Gazza in any team in the Championship and they would win the league.

Villa will probably come up and he’ll stay, but if they lose against Derby on Monday he’ll be a very silly boy it he allows Villa to hold him back by asking for silly money for him.

He’s too good for the championship but I’ve seen £60-70m being thrown around by Villa fans and nobody is going to pay that. As much as he might love Villa he absolutely needs to make clear in the summer he needs to leave and play in the Premier League / Champions League.

Just think what you can get elsewhere for that sort of money - they're mental if they think they'll get that

I don't think they want to sell. So if nobody matches that figure they'll be happy.

Yeah fair point. I suppose it's very much in "offer we can't refuse" territory.

At that stage though I think whether or not that strategy works will depend on whether they come up or not. If they refuse to back down on price, but get promoted, then Grealish might be prepared to stick it out for another year and see what happens, it's not like he's miserable at Villa or anything so it's not the end of the world for him to stay another year if they're in the Premiership. However, if they lose in the playoffs and still won't budge on the price then I can see him/his agent agitating for a move. I can't see him wanting another Championship season unless he's ridiculously loyal to his boyhood club.

I know sherwood said that if had moved to spurs last summer he'd be playing for england by now. That has to play on his mind a bit.

He's stupid if he doesn't have a CL club release clause in his new contract for a suitable amount of money if they don't get promoted. He does need to progress his career and he won't do that in the championship another season.

Don’t villa have a couple of Chelsea players on loan? They’ll need to spend if they want to stay up unless Chelsea will loan them again.

Yeah, the core of the team is Tammy (loan), Tuanzebe (loan), and Grealish. They're going to be terrible in the prem without substantial investment.

I think Grealish will stay if they come up, and he should. If he's fantastic at the next level, then he will get his big move and he will cost that much more. If he's underwhelming, he'll be back in the Championship and the offers will still be there and he'll be more affordable.

He may cost himself a trip to the Euros next summer though, and then he'll have to really be fantastic and work through the system to take part in Qatar.

I think it's easier to be happy at a Championship club pushing for promotion than at a premiership club struggling for survival. I think Villa will have a hard time if they come up so it's only a matter of time before Grealish wants out. He was happy to leave for us last Summer and I don't think that will have changed. He'll probably stay at Villa if they get promotion but maybe he'll think his chance of a big move has gone if he doesn't make it very soon. Shame he signed such a long contract though because he could end up in the same spot as Zaha.

His agent has screwed him if didn’t put a clause in his contract if they don’t get promotion or even a CL team were after him.

Villa will have to sell if they don’t go up , they are fucked by ffp
Cue Levy thinking he has them by the balls and playing a game of brinkmanship, only for their circumstances to change in July and for them to come back with a big healthy "Fuck off" to any inquiries thereafter.

So too, you’d imagine, will be seeing us playing in the Champions League final. That opportunity may never come round for him again. Although it will be obviously massive for him if he helps send Villa back into the Premier League.

Or a club like Leicester to come in and give Villa a proper offer.

Will be interesting to see how he plays in a big pressure game. Technically speaking, he will be head and shoulders above anyone on that pitch but his attitude will determine whether that becomes the reality

Totally see your point in general, but Derby have some fantastic talent (loaned) in that side. Should be a great match with a lot of flair. Definitely excited to see who shines the most between Grealish, Mount and Wilson.

He was arguably the best player on the pitch Jb last year’s Play Off Final.

His attitude isn’t a problem, since he’s come back from injury he’s single handedly dragged villa into the play offs
