It's not that far apart and more bout how the deal is constructed. Steve is paying lip service. Villa need more up front. Grealish will end up at Tottenham. Villa are one of a few clubs who don't mind dealing with Levy. Plus Levy don't buy many players in July anymore due to financial reasons. Look back at last season's transfers and the dates. This transfer will go fast once green light is given. I like Levy and don't believe he hasn't got more transfers lined up and ready to go when/if players are sold.

They won't ever fucking admit it, they can't correlate the games vs united and juventus and poch not being able to make any subs was anything to do with the transfer window. They won't see players like Aurier, LLorente and Moura struggling because they were brought in with 10 mins left of their respective windows and they'll bring up the Van Der Vaart deal because once upon a time a near decade ago he managed to bring a decent player in and that means he's king of the fucking window forever more.
I see what you're saying, where we are now as a club is all down to Daniel Levy.

I presumed from @robertgoulet 's comment that the game of Monday would cup tie him...is that not the case then?

Villa's game on Monday is in the Championship, so it won't have any bearing on his eligibility to play for any other club in any other competition.

Not sure why anyone would think otherwise.

Who we could have signed for £2 million but the club are not good at taking risks on signing young players of this type despite the financial rewards (Alli was an exception).
Dier, Rose, Walker, Fuyth, N'Koudou spring to mind as well as Alli. The club didn't think he was worth a punt and evidently still don't now even though he's had a good season. We wouldn't have played him instead of Eriksen and Alli and as a result he has probably improved with the game time. Grealish is physically bigger and I think will grow to become a very good dynamic CM.

Sorry Journalist we're only allowing meltdowns today. So if you could edit this to say everything is terrible and we're all going to die as Levy strangles us one by one that would be great.

Thanks!

He's done a lot of great things for the club but transfers are not one of them. I still maintain poch has succeeded despite of Levy not because of him.
I look at our players and I all but one or two of them transferred in and all of those while Levy was in charge, I understand the frustration with Levy and transfers, I feel it too, but I think it gets a bit overstated sometimes.
Still, Daniel's window opens tomorrow so I expect we'll see some action from here on in.

I never expected a super spending spree but my concern is that we will end up going through patches of playing pedestrian/one dimensional football again and fail to break teams down again like we did last season. It seems like when we don't have the full strength team out we do struggle a bit. I'm pretty sure that it was acknowledged that there are areas of the team that need addressing. I don't like doom mongering but equally I feel like there are people with short memories from last season.

the thing is neither Zaha or Martial can change that build up when we attack, except if it's a counter which doesn't happen too often v bus parkers unless they are 2 or 3-0 down. Zaha doesn't face defences with 11 men behind the ball, and Martial just doesn't get to play. what we really needed or need is someone that can do what Bale used to do get it on his left foot score from anywhere

Is he going to be an England starter within a year again now? Or is it embarrassing we're after him? I can't keep up anymore.

Jack’s just updated his Insta with a video showing he’s in training with Villa.
interesting people had been saying he kept off of that for a few days and that was normally active with it all..... maybe he thought he was on the way

I more take issue with people who see 0 fault with him, I think he has done so much good for the club but nothing irritates me more with people not just levy but people in general than when they repeat the same errors repeatedly with seemingly no lessons learn't or adjustments made, it feels like an ego thing especially when we think about the positions these people are in. I've also been critical of poch failing to learn from his own errors but the way I see it right now is that Levy is not improving when it comes to transfer windows and that can't be overstated in my opinion.

The thing I will say regarding Grealish is if they had no financial troubles at all regarding this new takeover Bruce would surely come out and say not for sale, simple as that.

The fact he's still talking about negotiations being ongoing shows they are somewhat needing to sell, not that they no longer need to.

I think Villa are paying a bit of lip service and I do believe that the FFP looms over them regardless of the new investment and the mixture of reports that back this up/ shoot it down

We have invested money in the training ground/stadium rather than the first team. We have had roughly a net spend of £0 on players over the last 10 years yet have climbed from midtable to cl regulars. I'd say our transfer dealings in that context have been better than any club in england.
