Villa signing Woodburn on loan from Liverpool. He had originally been approached as their Grealish replacement. Will be interesting to see if they keep both.

Hopefully if he really wants to come and with only a couple of years of his contract left it may still happen. I still hold hope. I get the feeling if we miss out we may get Gomes instead. Similar age and value, both can play CM or CAM, Gomes a bit more proven at the top level but Grealish is homegrown.

Feel a little sorry for him as he is desperate to come and join however it is out of his control with the new owners.

Do you think he has to hand in a transfer request in order for Villa's owners to save face?

I think the first 150 were complaints about how we shouldn't buy him, then there were about 10 where he was pukka, then the other 40-odd have been complaints about how we aren't buying him :hilarious:

don't forget the 10 pages about not having a non HG Keeper:whistle:

Personally speaking, we should of dealt at initial fee. No use haggling over few bars literally. But there goes it

If this is all the case and it genuinely comes down to Levys mistake then Levy should swallow it and pay them. A Chairman should never be to blame for the inability to get a player the manager wants because he was trying to be cute.

In the end of Grealish chooses to stay at Villa, all credit to him for being true to his childhood club.

He should speak to Robbie Keane about the interpretation of a childhood club. Maybe it will broaden his view!

Caving in would set a bad precedent. Other clubs could play the same hand that Villa have.

Let's test Villa's resolve on deadline day.

Classic Levy.

He's cruising for a fucking bruising in my eyes. He's got 11 days to sort his shit out, otherwise...........

I'll just moan.

If Levy does that he'll just end up potentially making the same mistake again.

Imagine Pochettino if he knew a deal was there at say £20m but Levy got smart and offered £15m and now the price has gone up to £30m and Levy says a deal can't be done. If that happens in times where finding quality you want really is scarce, it'll be a huge let down to Pochettino and the blame will be squarely sitting at Levys feet.

If Pochettino wants him, he should pay it on the agreement it's an undisclosed fee if possibly. It would be extremely poor if we miss out on someone Mauricio rates as we start becoming a bigger club because Levy got a hard on for a bit of a hustle

He and his whole family are die hard Villa fans. Don't think there's any way he'd do that to the club. I think the situation a few weeks ago was ideal for him. He had the opportunity to join a top club in England while also still maintaining the respect of the Villa fans who would've thought he was pushed out of the club to save them from collapse.

Now he's faced with the likelihood of another year in the Championship and the possibility that none of the big clubs would have a requirement for him next year.

He may be a boyhood fan, but his career will stagnate if he stays in the Championship.

The Villa fans would understand if he left to play in the Premier League. It's not like he's moving for money, he'd be moving for Champions League football.

Have to admit, it would be kind of funny if we somehow failed to sign this lad from a championship side desperate for cash while facing no competition from other sides.

I'm as optimistic as they come, but with JJ saying grealish coming to us is out of his control because of the owners, and Gard's saying zaha isn't happening, who on earth are we going to sign?
