Can't be bothered to read through the last couple of hours of Grealish posts, do they have to sell because of FFP or not? A simple yes or no would be perfecto

They need to raise money through sales and cost cutting (wages). Whether this means grealish is uncertain but he is the most likely. Also don't know if the fa will give them some leeway as they have new owners.

Villa fans would say no, but according to everyone else they need to.

Yep. He's not Tottenham's owner though, the owners of Tottenham Hotspur is a company called ENIC. They have a fiscal responsibility towards their investors. His ownership also runs through Tavistock, who I'm sure has many investors who don't give two shits about football.

ENIC own 86% of Spurs. Joe Lewis owns 71% of ENIC and Daniel Levy owns the rest.

Tavistock is a private company owned by Joe Lewis through which he owns his various assets around the world. Some employees and family members might have stakes in

Joe Lewis is a lifelong Spurs fan.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.da...mpetition-one-three-seasons-unpaid-debts.html

'This decision was taken after FK Partizan failed to comply with the articles 65(1), 66(1) and 66bis(1) of the UEFA club licensing and financial fair play regulations.'

The articles refer to unpaid monies towards football clubs, employees and social or tax authorities.

You are right in that the UEFA regulations specify two tests.

The primary test is set out in Articles 56 to 64 inclusive and deal with clubs’ profitability.

Articles 65 and 66 further deal with unpaid debts (because a club could be trading profitably and just not pay its debts).

The Article 65 and 66 tests can be met by an owner putting more funds into a club but the Article 56-64 tests cannot be net by an owner investing more, the club has to improve its profitability.

Aston Villa is being governed by the Championship’s rules which are more stringent than UEFA’s. It cannot lose more than £39m in the three seasons ending 2019 without facing penalties that will now likely include a points deduction.

Agreed with everything apart from levy owning the rest. His family does.

Reading these quotes just make it even more baffling that we didn't tie this all up when he was there on a plate...:banghead:

Tottenham warned over Jack Grealish transfer as Aston Villa's Steve Bruce says they are "nowhere near" a deal
The Championship club value their best player at almost double what Spurs hope to pay — and the clock is ticking

Bruce: “At the moment Spurs haven’t got anywhere near what the owners want to consider.” “They’ve got nowhere near, so there’s no discussion. Let the two clubs find an agreement then, fine, we will see what develops.”

“I don’t want to lose him. But it’s football, it may happen. We don’t want to do it but if Spurs want to buy then they will have to pay a premium.” “We’re a Championship club and Spurs are in the Champions League, the attraction to Jack is inevitable.”

“He’s our best player by a country distance. Losing him would be a body blow.” “Before the takeover everyone was up for sale. But we’ve gone from a dark place in two weeks and things are different.”

So to sum it up, give us more money.

We are in a far stronger position than them and the clock is ticking.

Yeah I don't think there's any need to rush now with this one. I'd imagine Bruce is relying on his sale for transfer kitty. They will soften in a few days, but we will still have to make a reasonable offer.

We really should have had this done months ago before the takeover, though.

Not sure if xia wanted to sell him before he sold the club.

Trix seemed to suggest everything was there for us to finalise and get it done, but we delayed, no? Or was it the other way round and Villa delayed?

Trix would know more than me. But i know that an american consortium tried to buy villa but one of their points was that they didn't sell grealish. Xia turned them down though (rumour that he didn't want to sell to americans as they had met his asking price).

It was us. If ever there was a "lessons learned" moment, this should be one. To push this through is going to cost us quite a bit more than it should/could have.

This is nothing new though and has been posted numerous times before.

Regardless of Trix's info I find it almost impossible to believe that Levy and Lewis aren't 'connected' enough in the business/money world to have not known Villa were about to be bought by new, wealthier investors & a deal needed to be done asap to get Grealish at a cheaper price.

There was itk that Grealish wasn’t first choice so that could be why we held off. Now the other option hasn’t come off we are going back for Grealish.

Or it was down to us thinking we were getting Zaha so could get a non HG midfielder wasn’t no isn’t the case

So Levy messed this deal up by the sounds of it. Does make you wonder what other deals he fucks up doesn't it. Still no signings and what is it, 5 days left of the window. Utterly ridiculous.

I don't know the reason why we backed off. As I have posted before my info on this is not coming from the club.

Messed it up = Pessimists version
Deliberately held it up for a good reason that has since back fired = Optimists version
