If he really wants to join that’s most of the battle won. Bruce won’t want a unhappy player hanging around. Just depends if the owners are willing to negotiate a reasonable fee.

Either way he's not going to sign a new contract at Villa as they will still need to control their wage bill and staying at the club is one thing but staying for less money or even the same money as he signed for at nineteen is a different matter all together.

Agreed. If we have the will to pay them over what was previously agreed this should still be possible. But then, I think ship has sailed. If new owners really want to show themselves as strong, they would simply not go ahead come what may

Do you honestly think we're now going to pay more than what Villa originally quoted us for Grealish? We were haggling at the original price!

I honestly don't know whats going to happen and neither does anyone else but I'm also not gonna make any kneejerk whinge posts about it on the internet before I do

Spent months haggling over a few just to get it dropped by a couple of mill, according to Herc, and now looks unlikely. Will be hard to entice anyone here with the way we deal, lowballed zaha let year, and now tried lowballing villa - im not that much of a doom merchant, but fuck me it’s hard to be upbeat about our transfer dealings.

If jj says it’s off then it is as far as I’m concerned unless something changes. We’ve been here in previous transfer windows before with levy, the prick won’t ever change his ways so no point missing about it as it’s not gonna change anything, he will say anything to anyone to get his own way and if poch fucks off then he will get his just desserts!!

Hardly knee-jerk  anyone moaning about this Grealish deal, Levy or the window in general are completely justified to, in my opinion.

Why would we just pay what they originally quoted? That figure would always be negotiated. By any club!

When did JJ say it was off though?

There's what 11 days left of window how on earth are people being kneejerk if peeved. Right now in this moment this window, one before we move in to a new stadium, has been a complete failure. Maybe this week things will come off and we can all kneejerk into being positive but any fan, fans who spent a fortune on season tickets, has the right to wonder what on earth is going on right now. Suggesting otherwise is just odd.

I'm not saying we should of, but if we tried bringing down the original asking price because we felt it was too much, why would we now go ahead and pay more? We thought we sniffed a cheap opportunity worth taking a punt on and it's gone tits up IMO.

If its true that the new owners have blocked his move, It has raised my curiosity as to how they intend to sort out their FFP problem

By balance or risk with FFP fine versus losing a fan favourite and top talent on the cheap. Plenty of other opportunities to sell him later in the season, too.
