How someone is externally may not be the same internally among the players. If he passed the Ange interview then I'd be happy with him. The striker options are not great this window and he's homegrown to boot. If he went for a reasonable fee I could see this as a possibility. We would need to recoup a bit on outgoings though especially if we were to get Neto and say Doue. Definitely further down the pecking order for what we need this window.

No way united sign Toney.

Unless they’re planning on switching to two strikers

Zirkzee would be excellent in a 2 CF system tbf. I do think it’s possible if they are looking at Toney.

Do I particularly like the bloke, nope.
Is he a good player, absolutely and on form he improves us.

Many have commented on his form after returning.
He was out for so long it's no surprise he hasn't immediately been on it.
Such a long period without football takes its toll.
Some who point to his poor form, also cut Bentancur slack for not being on top of his game after a long time out.

Purely from a footballing standpoint we could do worse.

From a personal standpoint, we could do better

Fair points. But I think part of the issues some of us have with his form since returning is he doesn't appear to be trying that hard. I've never seen Bentancur's lack of form as due to not trying or caring.

We could be wrong about Toney. The perception of him isn't great, but could be wrong.

I want him but he has no sell on value at £40m

You know what our owners are like
it's not quite that simple.
Levy will make decisions based on 'payback'', ie, how will Spurs get their money back through that expenditure.
'Sell on value' guarantees it as the player holds or increases in value.

But if Ange tells him we can guarantee CL qualification by buying Toney then the payback is through extra CL money so Levy will sign it off.

Absolute worst case scenario that neto/eze/doue are too hard to do, could it be toney and say at least one less exciting attacking option? Not sure who exactly. Would also allow us to see additional game time for Mikey Moore, if Ange thinks he is ready.

I certainly wouldn't be too happy with that, but I suppose we have to look at all the alternatives. Toney should at least improve our goal scoring by a bit, although I get his record was not great after coming back from the ban

For what it is worth, I think we still get at least one of the big 3 I mention, but toney might be our 4th option of the attacking players available. I also understand he is a different position from the other 3.
