As a footballer squad option for £30-40mil tbh he’d be absolutely bloody brilliant value.

But I just don’t get good vibes from him and considering what we see trying to build I think we should avoid at all costs.

I just think with Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski, possibly Parrott that we have enough goals up top than bringing Toney in
I don’t think those 4 are good enough striker options if we want to be real contenders this season but then again it depends on if we bring in 2 top top draw wingers like Neto and Eze, if so then mabye we could get by with those 4 options until January and likely next season.

It’s all a puzzle.

My opinions on him are all from afar but if we are going to being in a forward with the price tag we are looking at hear I feel we need to be certain on these points:
- Better than Richie & Son - or at least soon to be there.
- Attitude - has to be right - Ange to rubberstamp
If not up the service to what we have and give a year for the youngsters to show what they have - at least in terms of seeing the gap that they could possibly fill. If not we look again next year.

We really could do a lot worse as a rotation option

Him and Richy as the two is perfect for what is currently available in the market if you ask me.......however, I think we are nowhere near getting him. He started off at Newcastle, if they sell Wilson, I wouldnt be surprised to see them go in for him.

Is he really going to be on rotation option wages and a rotation option transfer fee? There were rumours he wanted massive wages (over 200k per week)
That, plus we need to look at the stage the player is in his career.

If he was younger and making a step up, a rotation option while he settles in and develops might be suitable to him.

If he was nearing the end of his career and wanted a few years of high pay and happy to still be part of a big club he might be interested in a rotation option.

But a player coming to his prime with a big ego is unlikely to be joining with such thoughts.

We either buy him to lead the line for us as 1st choice or we don’t buy him.

Yep and my gut feeling is, at this stage we aren't interested, unless we get a mega offer for Richy or even Kulu

On paper, yes.

In reality I’m not convinced he’s joining a team at this stage to be a rotation option.
Yeah, he’s literally been complaining about his lack of game time for England, saying he’s not used to it as a regular starter at club level.

I'm not his hugest fan due to his attitude but that penalty of his was stupidly good. Didn't even glance at the sodding ball. #Mentality = elite
Toney and Alexander-Arnold’s penalties were both so good. To be so good at penalties that Toney didn’t even have to look at the ball is insane. I didn’t think Southgate should have taken him but for that penalty alone he showed he made the right choice.

Love his confidence. In England we have a problem with working out the difference between that and arrogance. But it’s good to see him having a laugh here.

I think it’s a great idea to fill the gap we currently have and give our younger players in that position some time to develop.

That he stepped up to take a penalty and stuck it in the back of the net without even looking at the ball makes me think that his personality would add to the squad we have at the moment. Yeah he’s not the best guy maybe but we might need some of that in the short term at least. A bit of arrogance and confidence would be useful to have. He’d only be here 4 years or so at most.
