If its a discounted fee for a 28 year old in his last year i can see this happening.
If Ange likes the player, speaks to him to gauge his character and gives him the green light I wouldnt be suprised if this one goes through before the Euros.
My personal opinion/theory is we wont spend over 40/50m for a striker because Levy's masterplan is to try and bring back Kane next summer. Therefore if a deal for a Premier League proven, England international to bridge the gap can be done i can see it.

Get the feeling Ange wouldn't like his attitude. The big picture always more important than short term deal. Maybe I'm biased as I really don't like him - selfish.

Look at the personalities Ange has signed off on. Micky, Vic, Brennan, Bergval and Dragusin. All respectful, hard working and young team players. Just don't see him wanting Toney.

If Ange doesnt like what he hears it should be a no goer but theres a lot of smoke and we have signed players in the past where there were red flags about attitude but did the deal anyway. I just wouldnt be suprised.

Not for me. It’s the whole having two first names as your full name thing.

May as well be called John Bill.
Well highlighted sir, hadn’t even considered that as another option not to want him but on that basis that definitely rules him out for me😉

You'd have to be insane to spend 50m+ on a player that has a very high chance of facing another lengthy ban.

He knows where the goal is but this feels like Darren Bent all over again. Counter-attacking team's striker signed for a team that dominates possession and opponents park the bus against

Question though. With 1 year left on his contract his value is really ~£30m. Possibly less when you consider he is 28. If we could get him for £20m + Reggie would you be interested ? Is it just the fee that's putting some off?
I still think swerve him mate even for £20mil + Reggie, the bloke isn’t the kind of fit for what Ange is building.

After talks last summer with him and his family, club went cold, though it was only to explore interest. The vibes I heard then, and did not change in January was a negative one.

As a striker he is strong, can shield the ball with back to goal and play in his midfielders going beyond him and get his head on the ball in the air. Not a series of skills we have at the moment
Personally I would rather give minutes and experience to Veliz / Scarlett / Parrott - depending on which of these our management think have a future here - rather than spend our limited budget on Toney.

Just go balls out for Gyokeres instead and to bring the price down a little bit, offer to get rid of any remaining sell on clause we have on Edwards (unless we already got rid of it when getting Porro).

POK says he is on the list of potentials.
I understand why some might want him, he proved he can score 20 goals in this league and he isn't a bad passer either. Richarlison never scored 15 (could do it if he could stay healthy). Obviously there are many risks with him too, but there are also with Gimenez. Not sure what other strikers we are currently linked with. If Ange stays true to his principles then we won't get Toney but who knows. I have faith in Paratici in any case.

I think we'll be bringing in a striker irrespective of Veliz and Scarlett.
Parrott is off.

I agree with you, I'm certainly not condoning not buying a striker and just relying on youth prospects, my point was just that I'd prefer to give our youth prospects minutes than spend big money specifically on Toney (for several of the criticisms about Toney they have been mentioned plenty of times).

Negating the fact he doesn't understand he shouldn't gamble, he's in poor form & spent the last 12 months(before, during & after the suspension) angling for a move. We shouldn't indulge him.
