Bent to West Ham?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article607812.ece

According to the Sun Bent and Curbishly have kissed and made up and West Ham are preparing a £10 million bid. No mention of when but I assume it is in january.

Just wandered what people were thinking of this. Would we be happy with this, Can't say I ever see us getting our money back on Bent as I doubt he would be a regular for us. If we ever do sell him I don't think we would get more then £10 million either

There is no way Spurs would let him go for less than what we paid, just not going to happen, and why would we want to get rid of him either? Silly story, OMG REALLLLYYY silly story!

We did not pay £15M for him....Was it not an installment plan? Some now and a lot more later? lol. So, IF we are to let him go we can still get our money back. COYS

There is no way this happens
Too bad since it would be good buisness. Sell Mr.Crap and put the money where it's needed.

Berbatov
Keane
Defoe
Pekhart

I can live with that and some new class-players in midfield and defence.

Rubbish, I'm sure a few people are hoping we "get our money back" because Bent isn't the highest scoring in the premiership within the first few games therefore he's crap and we need to sell.

He's still one of the best strikers in the league and our third best. We need him around to rotate with the main two

Ashton isn't happy there? Bit slow but might add some grief for defenders.ie. we don't have a striker who can physically intimidate, skill wise yes, physically? no.

Darren Bent should stay and fight for a start he can play with the other 3 strikers and as a lone striker....the money paid for him isn't his fault. Yes we all know the club paid over the odds, but that aside, Darren Bent is a good goal scorer and shouldn't be victimized.

Carrick cost 18.5M
Hargreaves cost 17M

IMO Bents price is a reflection of the over inflated English player tag.

Except I'd rather have Carrick or Hargreaves far, far more than Bent. And therefore as far as I'm concerned they are worth far, far more than Bent and we were stitched up good and proper when we bought him. Yes I know the fee was in installments etc but based on what he has delivered since he joined in my humble opinion it was ludicrous business.

I reckon Levy had been on the lash the day before he bought Bent, couldn't read the contract properly because he was still pissed and thought the first year's installment of £5.5m was the full transfer price.

Haven't the last couple of weeks shown us the need for four quality strikers? From the comments of BOF etc Pekhart has only got one for the reserves and that was a penalty. If we definitely needed to sell before we could buy then maybe we would start considering things like this but I have no reason to suspect that this is the case.

Bent still has 5 goals. Same as Defoe. :-?

And has set up more? And is still in his first season.

Christ alive - can't believe a few on here are contemplating selling him. You wait 'til next season when Berbatov's not here, then you'll be thanking your lucky stars. He's also 23 - that's pretty young for a striker.

No chance

With the uncertainty around Berbatov & Defoe's future, Bent is a sure pick to be nailed down.

This is bollox, Darren Bent didn't come to Spurs because he didn't get on with Curbishley he came here because he saw us as the better club with much more chance of success for which he was willing to take half the wage. It was West Ham he rejected not their manager so why would that be different now? no reason at all!

And don't forget Defoe is on his way out, he won't sign a new contract (thanks to his agent) and we won't let him run it down like campbell so we ain't selling Darren Bent.

I know for a fact Bent is a very good professional. At Charlton the team was based around him, he literally played every minute as well. His last couple of games have not been great but at Charlton he proved he can score goals in the premiership. Once Ramos has had a good look at him i am sure he can mould him into a decent striker for us

Rediculous!

Bent is a good lad and will fight for his place at Spurs. He loves the club and is a top professional who wants to be a regular for England. Ask Hoof on COYS! Why did he persist with signing for us? Only if we get Ashton can we warrant for this IMO.

Bent is the fastest bloke we have, so we need him - simple. He stretches defences and creates space in the middle of the park. West Ham have injuries, but no way can they prise him from us - even with all the ice in Iceland!

We're in Europe FFS!

Faster than Defoe? Not sure about that.

As for stretching defences, that's all well and good at Charlton where they played a defensive 1 up front long ball system.

Anyone at Pompey last Sat would have seen just how average he was in our standard 4-4-2 attacking formation. Defoe's not always been my favourite player but he came on for about 15 mins and created far more uncertainty in their defence than Bent had done all game.

He's the 4th best striker we have and offers nothing we haven't already got with Defoe IMHO. I'd sell him for £10m without thinking twice about it if we could get someone like Kanoute or Anelka to replace him.

With Mido at least he offered something the others didn't - which was his aerial ability.

Bent may be a good professional but there are plenty of those around that don't cost £16m....
