Harsh on the south IMO. I've spent a lot of time in Italy in my life and even lived there for a while, and I'd say there's just as much racism in the north as there is in the south. The northerners are even "racist" about southern Italians. I've had multiple conversations with northerners along the lines of how they consider southern Italians to be more closely related to Africans and therefore monkeys than they are related to someone from Lombardy, Veneto etc. Actually on reflection I'd go as far as to say I've personally experienced more racist attitudes in the north than I have in the south.
Oh it's true that the north think less of a the south but that goes both ways. The regional diolects play a big hand as well I find. Neapolitan is almost a completely different language and they are very proud of it. The worst I have ever seen it is in Sicily regarding there thoughts on race. I found it was most liberal (although not enough) in Milan and Turin. But I don't question your experiences, I can only speak of my own. Anyway, as said, that is another conversation for a different thread. And as I said, all the ultras I have met from any club have all the same horrendous views on Race.

Really winds me up how the biggest conversations about Italian football tend to centre around racism. Really shames me as someone from an Italian family.

@'O Zio - my dad has some unpleasant history with Northern Italians. He's a Sicilian and when he moved to England he was refused employment by Northern Italians who turned him away. The term 'Terrone' is used as derogatory for Southerners, originating from their farming background. Sicilians get it quite bad as our blood is mixed with those that invaded us. Arabs, Greek, Normans. My surname refers to the Moors and I apparently have North African blood.

@Ghost Hardware - you think Neapolitan is hard to understand. Try Sicilian. It's literally been fused with some Arabic sounds here and there. It's very gutteral and a lot of Italians hate it. I grew up in a household that spoke it so I don't really speak much Italian. Sicilian is what I grew up speaking with family and it's practically a language of its own.

Fair play to the station though. After the next ad break they came straight out with an apology and said that the guy would never appear on the show again after what he said. The presenter said something along the lines of even if it was just a momentary slip if the tongue there's no forgiving something like that. A refreshing change to see someone actually taking action rather than making excuses like the inter ultras did the other week

He is an 80 year old man too, the producers were probably prepared for the day where something like that would happen.

Not that all old people say racist things, but I would say the chances of al old Italian man being caught on camera saying racist things would be extremely high.

That is truly shocking.

And he’s 80? Never known a pundit of that age before over here!

In fairness it's a low-budget local/regional channel not like MOTD or whatever.

Big game at the moment. Inter vs Juve and it's 1-1 right now. Dybala with a quality strike and Lautaro with a penalty.

De Ligt with another mistake to give away that penalty. He's been very shaky since his big money move. I think he's still trying to settle and has massive shoes to fill whilst covering for the injured Chiellini.

Marco Giampaolo sacked as head coach for AC Milan. Feel bad for the guy as he is the shortest serving coach in AC Milan history. No time to build a team with only 3 months in

You can feel bad for him but when an Italian side that is supposed to fight for CL places and at least be top six is 13th going into an international break, it has to be said that you could see it coming, time or no time.

It is odd to sack him after a win, tbf.

Who would have thought.

Adrien Rabiot 'is considering leaving Juventus due to a lack of game time' and has 'held talks with Barcelona' over a move despite only joining from PSG three months ago

He's just bad news all round that guy. Talent only gets you so far and he's clearly not got the right attitude whatsoever to make it at the top level.

I like his logic, can't get into the Juve side so he targets a move to Barca...

Tells you all about how his mind works. Or it's his mommy thinking that her baby boy deserves to play with Messi now that he doesn't get a chance at Juve.
