SSN showed Cagliari having a lot of incidents over the last 10 years. They should have the book thrown at them, but they'll probably only get a small fine.
They have enough of a record to warrant a season of home matches behind closed doors. Of course this being Italy they probably won't even be fined.

Juventus have left midfielder Emre Can and striker Mario Mandzukic out of their 22-man squad for the Champions League group stage.

Can, 25, only joined the Italian giants from Liverpool in June 2018, while 33-year-old Mandzukic was linked with a summer move to Manchester United.

Captain Giorgio Chiellini also misses out because of his serious knee injury.

Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has included six new signings, including Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

I hadn't heard that Chiellini had done his ACL. That kind of injuy at 35 will be very hard to come back from.

Sarri has been completely open about having too many players to fit into the CL squad, but without knowing the full squad by heart those two being omitted does surprise me.

Yeah done his ACL, means De Ligt has been thrown straight in and he fucked up for 2 goals against Napoli other night. It makes me hopeful for January though if we can sort the issues out regarding Dybala.

Hope so. Now that the club knows the full extent of the image rights deal then surely we should be able to do the deal if we want it.

(I'm prepared for optimistic ratings here)

Plus Nicky Bandini of the Guardian, who I trust on all Serie A matters, said before the window closed that we will go back for Dybala if he didn't go to e.g. Inter or PSG in the window that's just shut, so here's hoping.

The Inter Ultras released a (predictably stupid) statement defending Cagliari fans and Italian fans in general.

I'm waiting for Inter Milan and Serie A to issue a statement in response...

Sticking up for other Ultras factions instead of your own player is beyond mental.

Inter fans are racist as well it seems. Shame.
Just listening to Jolly Jim White talking about it on his show. He was doing very well on it, talking about that embarrassing open letter that their ultras sent to Lukaku but he then took a call from an Inter fan who said that what happened to Lukaku was wrong, he disagreed with the letter etc. and Jim asked the fan at the end of the call if he wanted to 'take the opportunity to apologise to Lukaku on behalf of all Inter fans', which I found pointless and cringey.

Cringe indeed. One random fan on a call-in cannot possibly apologies on behalf of all. He would have to be an Ultras boss and even then it's a stretch.

But White is a cockwomble, so...

Inter are ****s

I don't even think its an educational thing it really isn't. They KNOW it is racist - if you know it is racist yet continue to do what youre doing and try to justify it then that isn't an education thing.

I am not one to suggest that anyone discriminated should run away from a football culture but im surprised any black player would go specifically Lukaku who went to Inter knowing this would be an issue BUT I bet he is having second thoughts now his OWN fans are trying to justify the racism.

The Italian Ultras in general are very different from the majority of actual fans who support the club. They tend to be involved with much more outside of football, drug running, armed robbery all sorts. Many, in fact most, are very very right wing and have often extreme views. Especially when it comes to race. It doesn't matter what club it is, Juve, Inter, Napoli, most famously Lazio. I have watched and followed Italian football since I was 14 and have gone to see Inter many times, I can say first hand the ultras of any team should not be taken as a true representation of any clubs fans base. The curva nord are no better or worse then any othet. As for Italy itself, it is unfortunately true that there is a lot of racism there, especially in the south, i have often been shocked at how open and accepted it is in Italy. But that is another conversation.

This is a intresting read for those wanting to know how insane the world of the ultras get. This guy was crazy.

Harsh on the south IMO. I've spent a lot of time in Italy in my life and even lived there for a while, and I'd say there's just as much racism in the north as there is in the south. The northerners are even "racist" about southern Italians. I've had multiple conversations with northerners along the lines of how they consider southern Italians to be more closely related to Africans and therefore monkeys than they are related to someone from Lombardy, Veneto etc. Actually on reflection I'd go as far as to say I've personally experienced more racist attitudes in the north than I have in the south.

News that the Qatari state are looking at buying Roma...
How would they manage to get around UEFAs ownership regulations if both Roma and PSG made the CL?

Red Bull had to relinquish some of their influence in Salzburg to manage to have both them and Leipzig in the same competition.

Don't know if Qatar care really. They will just pay UEFA to change the rules...
