Redknapp.

I'm very drunk right now. I've even put my McDonald's down to type this. (That's a pretty big deal). But this slump cannot possibly be all Harry Redknapp's fault.

It goes beyond reality to think so.

As much as he motivates and sends players out for the two sets of 45 minutes, they really honestly have to take some responsibility for the performances that they've put in since February.

If this is such a wondrous group of players that need very little management, then why the fuck have they been playing like they have for the last two months?

Today, I though Modric was terrible. I thought Parker was fantastic. But through various periods of the last number of games, you have to rationally think that actually there's only so much a manager can influence. There's a lot of a hit to be taken by the players.

Redknapp seems to be taking the most of the hit. Unfairly, in my opinion.

Players need to stand up and be counted and not hide under fans preconceptions of Redknapp's past.

Two cents from a boozy ol' blogger.

It's not all his fault but when you state that you can't play 4-4-2 anymore 3 times in 2 weeks but play it anyway because "other people" say you're best when you play 4-4-2 is quite outrageous. Of course players like Modric and Bale have been rubbish recently but we were in the game today until Redknapp brought Defoe on, a decision which affected the game arguably more than the bloody phantom goal.

I don't like Redknapp, never have, but some of the bile being spouted about him has been nothing short of moronic.

At the end of last season he was a **** and two games in he was still a ****, 15 games in he'd won most people around and 25 games in he was a legend and people were slitting their wrists at the thought of losing him. Now he's a ***** again.

Only on SC can you go from **** to legend and back to **** again in the space of a few games.

I've seen some utter shit posted tonight, some absolutely embarrassing drivel that a monkey on whizz couldn't dream up. At least Ashcroft is consistent, he hates Redknapp come rain or shine, but some of the most vitriolic comments are coming from people who were spreading rose petals in his path as he walked along a couple of months or so ago. Sure there's cause for complaint, but there's no balance to it.

As so it will go on. Redknapp will leave, a new guy will come in and he will be hailed as the saviour. 10 games later he's a ****. If we did eventually win a title, the poor sod in the hotseat better fucking retain it the next year and also win the CL cos if he don't he'll be a **** too.

Its a fucking sad indictment of the way people handle expectation and disappointment

SC's **** 'o' meter. More reliable than a Swiss watch.

It is ultimately down to the manager to get the players to perform to the best of their abilities.

I wouldn't say it's all down to the manager, but largely down to the manager.

Would those same players perform so poorly under Sir Alex? I just can't see it.

Great managers get the best out of their players. Harry is a very good manager but falls short of greatness.

Yeah, the players have been FUCKING AMAZING in the last two months and deserve our praise. It's completely all the manager.

If your arsehole manages our football team, I will boo it. Loudly.

Have you not answered your own question there. How can we have such a collective mess going on with that much quality and experience on the pitch.

Look Stoof, bottom line is the buck stops with the manager. If the players are guilty then he's lost the dressing room to some extent. Chelsea got rid of AVB, and look at the response Roberto has got.

Redknapp is the manager, we live in the here and now - he's not doing the business, be it England, his tactical ineptitide, the players not believing in him anymore....

It really doesn't matter, he can't rectify it...its two months now.

But even when we were winning it wasn't by that much and it felt like luck was on our side a little. For instance, in the league, in the last 2 seasons, we have had 3 wins by a margin of 3 goals or more. Two of those times were Bolton when Cahill was sent off, and Liverpool with 9 men. Even West Bromwich, Bolton, Sunderland, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Fulham have more, in some cases double or triple. Our main "rivals" are much higher, Man City have 19 such wins, United and Arsenal have 13, and Chelsea have 10. Swansea have 3 such victories in their first season in the premier league.

Personally I believe it is because of the lack of organization instilled into the team by Redknapp, we don't know how we are supposed to score and so it's not surprising to see us huff and puff. We have tremendous quality in the team and I don't believe Redknapp gets the best out of them, I honestly don't and didn't even during our good run.

Edit: United have 14 actually with their win today against Villa.

And the fact I've seen the word 'crisis' banded around here tonight goes to show quite how out of touch with reality some people have become.

The players have let him down big time. You want to hate on him, hate on him.

They need to take a share of this bile/bollocks that's coming from the majority of you. Otherwise you simply can't have enjoyed the last 2 years of his management.

Well yes, it is not all Redknapp. Players are to blame as well, King, Gallas and Cudicini were dreadful considering they were our "experienced" players, Modric was nowhere and he could've been wearing a Chelsea shirt and I wouldn't have noticed. He was just useless and has been for several games. VdV disappeared in the second half too but then so did the whole team pretty much, besides Parker and Adebayor.

But I think what is annoying us all about Redknapp is the stupid comments he often makes. Such as the one a few weeks ago where he didn't even realise we hadn't won a game in five, I mean seriously? You're being paid by us supporters so to say something stupid like that and the constant talking about who we could've signed? What? Just shut up and focus on the players we do have and training. I think we have all just had enough and I am finally seeing why other fans grew tired of him when he was manager of their club.

I dont think anyone has said that its all Harry's fault or that the players dont deserve some of the blame, I have seen a lot of, in all honesty quite brutal, evaluation of players that previously have been almost seen as 'royalty' and above criticism.

Whether its correct or not though the buck stops with the manager and some of these barmy tactical decisions arent helping him at all, especially when you put that next to comments he makes week in, week out about certain formations being too open or not working, only for him repeatedly going back to them with the end result being it not working. He doesnt help himself when he gives off the impression that he hasnt a clue what he is doing.

You massively over-play a manager's role in the actual game. Which is football. Played by football players.

They don't suddenly forget how to score, they don't suddenly forget how to pass.

Let's just get rid of the manager eh? Maybe drop down to tenth for a couple of years. Then maybe some of you would fuck off for a bit. That'd be nice.

You make out like a manager is some sort of puppet master in this whole thing, silently constructing every move.

The players play the game. They have to take some responsibility. I'm not calling for sacrifices in front of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I'm just saying that the players have to take their fair share of the bile.
