Is Vorm the answer for long term?

I know its only 5 games played. However, watching Vorm play for Swansea, he come across as a confident all rounded keeper. Bar the error against arse, he had been excellent.
I think we should look to sign him as first team keeper to succeed Fridel since its likely that Gomes will leave.

I think there are a number of possibilities for example Bergovic who we missed out on when he moved from Portsmouth.

I suspect that Harry/Levy are building up a list of possibilities still - Freidal looks ok for this season and quite possibly next, and Cudicini looked to have a new lease of life in the Greek game, so maybe its not a priority for January even if Gomes plans to leave.

IIRC one of the ITK's said just before the end of the window that we were looking at 2 goalies that were playing for Championship sides atm. I think with a view to signing one next Summer. Never said who though.

The goal keeping position is one we will need to look at either in January or next summer as i'm sure Gomes will look to move to pastures new which the club would look to facilitate and it's debateable how much longer Cudicini and Friedel will remain at the highest level.

I'm not sure if memory serves me right but weren't we interested in the (now Chelsea) keeper of Courtios in the summer so it wouldn't surprise me if we are looking for a young up and coming 'keeper to come in, learn the ropes and eventually break into the first team sometime next year.

vorm looks very impressive but i think like gomes he might be able to win games on his own he can also cost us games by silly errors. Although we shall see, would still prefer a young up and coming english keeper.

Love it, apart from when he makes an error he's an excellent keeper, now where have I heard that before?

I'd wait to see more from Vorm, good keepers at poor teams get more chances to pull off great saves, and their mistakes are normally excused as their team is expected to concede/lose. The test of a real keeper comes when you have nothing to do for 70 minutes then need to pull that great save out of the bag.

One of the reasons why I always thought Given was a bit overrated at Newcastle, sure he made lots of good saves but if he hadn't Newcastle would've conceded 12 goals a game! He always had something to do, which made him look better than he really was.

Vorm looks good and the Arse mistake seemed like a freak incident, will be interesting to follow his progress this season.

Vorm looks great atm, if he keeps it up it, there should be plenty of interest in him come the end of the season.

The few times I've seen Lindegaard played for Man Utd he's also impressed me, looks far too good to be a backup keeper.

Vorm, Al Habsi and Begovic are all good, young keepers.
Al-Habsi's 29 and Vorm's 27, both have many years left at the top but hardly young.

I would like to see us go for Begovic next summer, he seems to have come on leaps and bounds at Stoke.

Vorm reminds me of gomes imo, rush of blood to the head, if gomes can calm down with his decision making he will make a great keeper, still young in GK years

If we want a new keeper get Viviano from Inter now for up to £10mill

We should of signed Shay Given or Ben Foster this summer... I think we were linked with Luton and Watford goal keepers recently one of them is in the U21 set up with England... Will be interesting if Gomes goes cause both are keepers are at the retirement age...
