Is the greatest comeback possible?

Although I doubt it, I know it actually is. Well, nothing is impossible. We'll be home, the fans will be vociferous and I hope, I really hope, we go for it and produce a display worthy of all that (in our European campaign) preceeded Tuesday's debacle.

I don't want a half-hearted display. I want us to go for it, to go down fighting like warriors. Anyway, to keep my mood optimistic I looked up two legged European comebacks and noted, that whilst there didn't seem to be a recovery from 4-0, I was actually at one game mentioned.

Back in 1987 I saw Werder Bremen beat Spartak Moscow 6-2 after losing the first leg 4-1. I remember it mostly because it was 4-1 at full time and due to heavy mist one of the guys with me had 'missed' a goal, and thus couldn't understand why we weren't leaving at the end of the 90 minutes!

The greatest comeback, it seems, was Bayer Uerdingen's 6 goals in the last 30 minutes against Dynamo Dresden in 1986 which saw a 1-5 deficit transform into a 7-5 win.

I must add I was also at (the one off) Spurs/United in 2001. It's a comeback I'd like to forget. I will never forget the guy next to me saying at half time, "I'd feel more confident if we had scored four".

Now Real have four and I'm less confident than that guy, but I do know that things can change quickly in football. You must never stop believing, dreaming and praying to the football gods (I did a lot of that as a kid).

So, even though it's very unlikely, never say never. I live in hope and wish I could be there next week with all you who are lucky enough to have a ticket. I'll be getting up at 1:30 in the morning and believing the greatest comeback of all time is about to unfold! Bring it on!

It's possible but as long as we have a go at it I don't care if we get beaten 5-3 at WHL, I just want to see us have a bloody good go at the buggers.

There is literally one in a million chance of us going through, but you never know.

I hope we go for it though and go out memorably, a win next week would be nice to see.

No. I'd pretty much bet everything I own on it.

I actually don't care if we lose 6-0 so long as we actually try and have a go this time.

I am going to WHL next Wednesday fully expecting us to qualify for the semi finals. That's just how I am. What I will say though, is that any result will be preferable to a 3-0/ 5-1/ 6-2/ 4-0 but lose on penalties result, as to get close and narrowly miss out would be too big a range of emotions for anybodies heart to take I fear.

Still, I believe we're going to do it. Call me crazy, I have nothing to base this on after all, I just feel it in my nutsack.

More importantly right now though is Stoke home this Saturday, the first of 8 successive league victories.

I hope we lose 0-24 just so as I can see Harry get sacked.

He can also take that Rubbish, Bale and Modric and VdV with him while he's at it.

I want Sam Allardyce the tactical genius

Yes i said that in another thread. It would really put the pressure on them. And a goal inside the first 15/20 mins of the 2nd half and it's all to play for.

I just can't see Madrid NOT scoring on the night which ends it all. Plus non of our strikers have looked like they could produce a performance for us that will even give us a chance.

Bale and VDV don't seem to be playing anywhere near what they were a month or so back.

We need Big performances from our big players.

As others have said, it will probably be pretty clear whether or not we still have a chance about 15-20 minutes into the game.

We have players that can suddenly turn in outstanding performances (Bale, VDV, Lennon), and maybe...just maybe Pav and/or Defoe will be able to take a couple of chances that come their way.

I'm not getting my hopes up though.

There are times at WHL, night games, where the crowd is rocking from before the first minute, where the players come out all a little taller, a little faster, a little more determined and even a little better looking than usual. This will be one of those nights. We are going to remember this forever. We are going to put the Madridistas to the sword like nobody would ever expect us to. It is going to be monumental, magnificent, magical. Every player who has been dragging his heels lately will spark into life and Madrid will not know what hit them. Just wait. I expect the tie to be level by the 60th minute. I can't wait. COME ON YOU SPURS!

I dont care about overturning the deficit anymore. I just want a good performance and hopefully a win. We probably cant/wont win by more than four goals but winning by any margin will still have an echo of glory.

Yep said this to my brother last night.
I'll be there Wednesday and I'm going to watch us knock out Real.

Possible = Yes

Likely = No

But when have Spurs ever cared for the likely outcome ?
