Very well done to all those who contributed for this cause. This showing goes a long way in showing the substance the SPURS family is made of. We should all be very proud. Well done to all once again :clap::clap:

Shirts raise thousands for Poppy Appeal

20 November 2009

The Club is delighted to announce we raised over £32,000 for The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal campaign through our recent online auction of special edition match shirts.
Shirts worn by our players during the 2-0 Premier League victory over Sunderland at the Lane on Saturday November 7, all bearing a specially embroidered poppy, were signed by the lads and auctioned off to fans.
The auction received an overwhelming response, with supporters bidding thousands of pounds for these exclusive items towards a staggering total of £32,547 - more than any other Premier League club.
Ledley King's signed match shirt fetched the highest amount out of all available items - a whopping £2,500!
All money raised in the auction will go towards the Poppy Appeal, which aims to offer support for those who serve, emphasising the increasing need to help the men and women who are serving today, as well as ex-Services and dependants.
The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took part for making such a significant contribution to this worthy cause.

Wow 32k ...

That's almost half a weeks wages to some of our players and about a weeks wages for half our squad!!

It would be interesting to see how much the players contributed towards this fund

I wonder whose shirt got the least bid ??

Well done everyone though, in these hard times that's a great effort.

It is a great effort.

Had the pleasure of bumping into a couple of the soldiers after the game as they were walking back to their car. They seemed really pleased with the reaction they got from people.

They said that because they are away they are not sure what the feelings of the public are towards them. I made sure they knew that they had our full support and respect, and I think the reaction of the crowd and the subsequent funds that have been raised emphasise this.
