....what would it be?

On The Totally Football Show they've started asking the guests which result from any game of football in history would you wipe out? You need to assume that the game would then be restarted using the same players who were available for the first match.

England Poland '73. Killed our WC qualifying hopes. Polish keeper played out of his skin. Don't think I've ever seen a more one-sided game.

Also 2016, Spurs 0 Leicester 1 - Huth's last minute header. Key points swing, with an alternate result, could have changed the momentum of both teams after that.

...I know that's two matches.

Spurs vs Benfica in 1962. I've heard many say it was fixed. Spurs had 2 goals disallowed in the first leg. Could have gone on to be the first English winners of the big cup.

Got to be England Vs Germany in the semis of Euro '96

So close...

PS England Vs Germany in Italia '90 was also a thought, but I think we'd have a better chance of winning the former

The lasagne gate game for us. I firmly believe things would have been very different for us and arsenal had we qualified for the champions league that season ahead of them. They were moving into their new ground and getting into the competition was decisive for them financially at the time. We had a really good group of players too and could have pushed on under Jol then with them.

@S.Mouse! and @ohtottenham! have already mentioned two of the three games I thought of. Croatia looked very beatable in the semi final and I'd loved to have seen us in the final.

If we'd beaten Leicester in the season they won the title it could have really tipped things in our favour.

The other one I thought of was the 2012 Champions League final. Chelsea should have been beaten in normal time which would've meant that we qualified for the Champions League instead of them, they probably wouldn't have signed Hazard (he might have joined us) and obviously they wouldn't have had the glory of winning the thing.

First one that sprung to mind strangely. It could have been the start of a great history but instead it ended up being patchy.

In my lifetime, Italia 90, losing to Italy. To replay it would only mean losing again but Packie Bonner losing his footing to allow Schillachi in for the only goal of the game used to be something that gave me actual nightmares, wishing I could appear on the line to block it.

Got quite a few, but the one that first sprung to mind was.......

87 cup final..........fcking Coventry

We were the best team to watch that season. Went deep in every competition, had some amazing players, but came up just short in everything.
That was my first trip to Wembley, I remember the feeling coming back from that game, totally devastated. No way we lose that game, second time around.

Also, slightly more recently the 2015 League Cup final. If Poch had won a trophy in his first season things might have gone a lot differently when it comes to confidence in the big games. Players like Dier and Kane and Eriksen would have had a trophy under their belts and the last few seasons might have been even better.

For me I'd measure it on what was reasonably achievable from that match, and how it went.

A lot of these games (e.g. England v Croatia, 2015 Cup final) the team was obviously outclassed and so second best in various areas that I don't think there would likely be any change.

The Portsmouth semi final is one that springs to mind Spurs-wise, but then we'd have had a tough final to come.

Euro 96 semi final though is the one for me. Came down to penalties in the end to split it, after two massive chances to win it in extra time, and the Czech's the opponents in the final with home advantage.
