What's new

I love (hate) Daniel Levy, please don’t mention him anywhere else!

We occasionally won things. Let’s not pretend winning things was a regular thing.
I am one of those wankers who still support Levy, and I do believe that he does things with the clubs best interests at heart. I also believe that he has tried very hard to help the club win things.

I will concede though, that despite all the good he has done for the club. The growth of the premier league has moved faster than Levy has been able to grow the club.

It seems what the majority want, is for an owner that will simply plough unlimited funds into the football club.
That is fine, but I wouldn’t say it would make us a better run club.
And if Levy were to leave today, sure he would say he wished he could help the club win more, but ultimately he would have left the club in a much better state than when he acquired it.
I’m sure he would have plenty of offers from other clubs.
It's over Josh. Tell daddy to fuck off please

Do you feel that winning is a priority for them? If it us do you think they have a good plan to do so?

It’s not a wind up I’m afraid. A very popular criticism of Levy is that “there isn’t a plan”
I believe the plan is to run the club in a sustainable manner. Unfortunately that is unlikely to cut the mustard when competing with others.
Another criticism is that we don’t blow the budget and sign ready made players. Example, Neto. If Chelsea, United, Arsenal or city want those players as well, we can’t compete. Whatever we offer they will better it. What can you do when that is the case.

obviously I’m going to get ridiculed for these views and that’s ok because it’s just an internet forum. I can take it.

I just feel in a league where cash is king, how do you win if you’re the 5/6th richest? Or at least how do you expect to win?

Can anyone explain why the new stadium is a good thing for us as a Club?
My ill-informed guess is that gate receipts meant a whole lot more 15 years ago when the project finally got to a point where it became realistic. With the amount of money now in the league from top to bottom, gate receipts aren’t enough to buy top players and to turn a profit for the owners. In the absence of this, they’ve decided to keep the profits and invest in a more cynical, limited way.

Which basically suggests that Levys influence on the development of the club is not quite as stunning as might be suggested. If gate receipts are not as influential then maybe don't fleece the real fans and make our stadium a bear pit where the opposition fear to tread rather than full of bloody tourists.

I feel that they had a plan to build a great infrastructure and that would in turn bring success. I feel that their job is to manage the business side of things and supply the available funds to the football people.

Remember that Levy was one of the first chairman to adopt the director of football role.

Whilst I’m sure many people can point to examples that suggest winning ISNT a priority. But there are examples that would suggest winning is a priority.

Hiring a director of football before it was the norm.
sacking Poch for Mourinho.
sacking Nuno for Conte
Investing in the academy.

Ultimately Levy sets the budget and it seems that people don’t like the budget.

Our matchday incomes and our income from non-football events are huge and have bridged the gap when it comes to our money making power compared to the rest of the top 6. With all teams getting massive tv money these days obviously it’s not making up the proportion of income that it used to.

But we’re letting Levy off the hook if we’re saying it’s not a game changer when it comes to what we should be spending. Teams are flush with cash, yes but we’ve got additional streams of income other teams don’t have and that should still be enough to allow us to compete at the top table for wages and fees - we just don’t because it’s not how the board or Levy want to operate.

He’s got to finish the hotel and maybe a stadium for the women’s team yet. He’ll be hanging around like a bad smell for a while yet.

The hotel is due ot be completed by June 2028. Anyone thinking that our recent reduction in player wages is to prepare for putting the club up for sale imminently is clearly barking up the wrong tree.

So he had a plan to increase revenue - fair enough.
Firing managers with little plan doesn’t prove a desire to win. I could just as easily say he has a desire to keep the heat off of him.
You keep focusing on the budgets but irrespective of the budgets what makes you think we will ever win under his leadership.? Is 24 years not enough ?

Can people make and bring big banners to home games?
“25 years, 14 Managers, 1 trophy, one constant, LEVY OUT”
“DANIEL LEVY WE WANT YOU TO GO”
“THANKS FOR THE STADIUM, NOW LEAVE LEVY!”
“DANIEL LEVY ITS TIME TO GO”
“WE WANT OUR CLUB BACK, LEVY/ENIC OUT”
“25yrs, 14 managers, same cycle, LEVY OUT”

I for one miss the old white hart lane and would love to be back in the south stand with a reasonably priced ticket and some crap sausage roll and lukewarm pint at half time.

The new stadium raised expectations and instead we’ve gone backwards - it’s clear the real money for levy is in us being an all purpose events franchise and property opportunities from redeveloping the area
Honestly I think the new stadium has sucked the soul out of the club.

It could’ve been a catalyst to a new exciting successful era but instead we are in danger of going back to lower bottom half 1990’s level and with only 1 trophy in 25 years and the whole Spursy tag and constant mismanagement of the football side by Levy combined with all the corporate events and NFL etc, our football clubs DNA is being eroded.

I don’t think he’ll sack Ange until we are out of the cups, at that point I think he’ll pull the trigger and we’ll be left with a caretaker until the end of the season.

The sooner levy is gone the better. He has made this club a joke in football. Take your profits and sod off.
We were due to play a cup final and then he got rid of the manager so don’t rule anything out with that muppet

I don’t think anyone expected the stadium to suddenly catapult us into the elite, but at the very least it should’ve kept us competitive. The opposite has happened, we’ve regressed. Levy hasn’t got the foggiest idea what to do now, that much is clear.

Just unbelievable that levy can’t see what’s staring him in the face, all the fans want is to be able to compete. Brilliant businessman but not one blood cell of footballing passion
