What's new

I love (hate) Daniel Levy, please don’t mention him anywhere else!

The club motto was Audere Est Facere. The ground was White Hart Lane. The expectation was a trophy when the year ended in one, at the very least. One by one the identity was stripped away until we ended up with a brand instead. A polished, corporate, global brand that does little for the man who turned up to a dirty little ground and sung away, heart and soul, living every kick. I despise what he did to my club and I despise him for it.

I hate that this post is so right.

Even the Chelsea game last season before Romero decided to go psycho and destroy anything that moved was electric.

The stadium keeps the sound in and with an electric atmosphere would be and can be incredibly intimidating for the other team.

You build that stadium, but then you have to build something on the pitch for the fans to believe in and get behind as well. We have completely f***** up that part.
That infamous amazon doc (which for me was the biggest error Daniel has made after the summer of no signings) has that clip in the first 10 mins, of Pochettino sat in his office saying something like "everyone notices the building when it falls down, but not everyone notices the signs that it will fall down."

I posted this in 2019 after Poch left, and I still hold to this now:

Think we've bollocksed it tbh. Should have won the EL and PL in 2016. Could arguably have won a PL in 2017 and should have won the FA cup in 2018. Should have won the CL last season.

Nearly all the key players have either left/want to leave/declined and the revolutionary manager has gone.

We weren't brave enough in the market and we're never going to be. José will struggle with what we've got, have a sulk when he's not given the means to sign who he wants, and leave in a funk. At that point we'll have been left long behind the top 6.

Happy new year everyone!

I see the levy bashing is back. Let’s see what his Christmas bonus is this year.

On its day it's the best atmosphere in the league. That home match to Arsenal a couple of seasons ago was like nothing I'd experienced. The last time the hairs on my arms raised like that at Spurs was the 20 min Park Lane/Shelfside chant against Fiorentina in 2016.

It's just not the Lane, tho. Is it?
I personally believe new ownership with ambition would change that.

The problem is the stadium is very much linked to Levy and the early years of its existence are tied to the end of Poch, Jose and Conte's drab football and Nuno.

I think even if we were in the old WHL it'd be similar - AVB/Sherwood/early Poch wasn't exactly a thrilling period.

Having said that, most new stadiums lack soul cause they just don't have the history.

Arsenal have been doing well but their support is still pretty boring.

I have found it quite interesting how AG and O'Keefe have quite sharply upped their language against Levy. There has always been critical voices, but if you look at recent comments they seem a lot more direct.

I think it’s become impossible to ignore just how much ENIC have totally failed the club. It’s now like a stinking bag of poo in the middle of the party, everyone can smell it, everyone can see it, it’s destroying the vibe, no amount of spray (see manager/s) will cover it up anymore and flies are everywhere and on people’s dinner plates. In the past it might have been argued why not get a new spray to fix it. Now it’s clear the bag of poo just needs to be removed.

it’s why I don’t care about Ange Out, I don’t see him being sacked as any fix nor do I care much about Romero having a few bad games. Ange is stubborn but so is Pep and Klopp, Romero if he went to Real wouldn’t be dropping poor performances as the expectations would be so much higher. Even Nuno is doing well after leaving us. This club won’t change until the board changes, they set the culture of the club and the culture is fu*king awful.

The reason why I pick culture is also experience. I have worked for multiple companies. My current role is great, it’s hard at times but fun, different and the environment is relaxed and supportive.

I have been at the company for only a year. The company is small but has been massively successful. Overperformed in growth, profit, diversification and above all being a great place to work at. They treat the staff well and have a what can only be described as ‘hire no pricks policy’. All of this has been led by the CEO who you can talk to about anything and has driven a culture of success, they had a CEO before that who didn’t do so well so had to go through change. Football isn’t business but it’s pretty clear how dramatic a good leader can be in cultural change and how culture starts at the top.

This club needs an elite chairman who will change the culture. Anything less won’t fix our issues.

I’ve lived to see the day when it’s allowed to criticise Levy on this forum.
It's always been allowed. All that's changed is the voices telling you you're a berk have either seen the light or are currently in hibernation waiting for us to get a few good results :D

That might just be Paul Barber you've described.

I’m not going tomorrow. Stuck my ticket on Exchange. No takers yet. I couldn’t think of a single good reason to go that wouldn’t have me completely pissed off for a few days. This isn’t on Ange. I can take the defeats, bad performances. Hope is the only thing that has kept me going so long and this club hasn’t got any.
Nobody wants the ticket. The so-called demand is fake. We’re not as big as the brand makes out. I’ll go today. And hopefully be making a clear message to Levy.

I actually think it’s reasonably significant that Law and Gold seemed to have really turned on Levy. Scrutiny is important.

The weather might be playing a part in that low demand, but here's hoping you have a decent trip out, COYS. Daniel.

Strange how the managers we've hired that need the most specific players have lasted a similar number of days.

AVB - 531
Jose - 516
Conte - 509
Ange - 526?

Almost as if there's a breaking point pattern emerging.

Unfortunately, there's no such tipping point for Daniel the Weeble.

Me too as i’ve said before, while Levy has been tinkering with the club badge he might as well have tinkered with the club motto as well.

The Bare Minimum
And have it written in comic sans.
