I was thinking about this tonight while watching the game. If you had to choose between getting to the Champions League Final or getting guaranteed top 4 which would you choose. I know we stand a bloody good chance of both but for me I'd choose 5th and roll the dice against Barcelona or Liverpool in the Final.

Time to find out who are among us are considered pussies :cautious:

Me! ?

I just think guaranteed CL for next year is more important, a full season at the new place, and the carrot of CL footie for new signings (and there will be new signings,
big ones too) is too much to risk.

All this ‘champions league next year is more important’ bollocks fucks me right off.

I have dreamed of seeing us in a European Cup Final (the real one) all my life. I’m 33 and never in my life even dreamed it possible for most of my years.

How the hell any of you would even consider finishing 4th over that is totally beyond me!!

You act like we wouldn’t recover if we have no CL football for one year. We would.

Who knows when we would next get a chance of a CL final.

What's the point of buying a carrot if you never want to eat it?

Missing out on top 4 would have financial ramifications that could well hurt our future ability to contend for honours. On the other hand...A final is a coin toss and the sheer ecstasy of winning the thing would be the best day of my life (sorry son).

Nobody will be telling their grandchildren about the time we finished 4th in the league.

Well my first grandchild arrived in February. She can't understand a word I say yet, but I see her little eyes light up everytime I tell her about our top 4 finishes over the last few seasons.

Top 4 for me.

But only if Levy, Poch and Co pull their collective fingers out in the summer and get some quality reinforcements in.

We've had all the odds stacked against us this season and we may still finish 3rd. That suggests that this squad is actually pretty close to challenging for a PL title next season, given the right investment. So Champions League football will be crucial for this.

Be patient lads; we'll be in a few CL finals over the next 5 years :sneaky:

Did we not have some recent ITK suggesting that we have been working on targets, but may have to look further down the list if we fail to finish in Champions league spots for next season.

On that basis I'm thinking a little further down the line.

Whilst I'd love us to reach a final, I just feel that this upcoming transfer window is a hugely important one, so I'd take guaranteed top 4.

As Poch has said it's time to try and reach the 'next level'.

We've one of the best stadiums in World football now delivered. So the next phase has to see us kick on with our on-field exploits.

With it already mentioned that there could well be a mini cull of players this summer, with a few surprises included, the last thing we need is to replace considered dross with...dross.

Hopefully Champions league will finally see us lure a bit better talent, especially with the extra revenue it generates and the fact that it appears we are starting to pay more as a basic wage.

Of course, all the above can be considered bollocks if we actually win the Champions league this season.
