That wasn't my point. Clearly. The point is international scoring records are not a great indication for a striker's quality. I personally feel that Suarez is not the type of striker we need. I also don't think he has the potential to be top drawer. I will readily admit to being wrong if I am proved so, but that is just my inkling.

Fair enough..

Not sure if that's correct (see it on Wikipedia), Soccernet says 10 assists over the last 3 years in league/europe, though their data isn't always complete for the smaller leagues. Wikipedia could be including Portuguese cup and other side competitions too suppose.

Finally heard back from Andy Brassell, who watches the Portuguese league and he said the assist #'s are correct. He's a very important provider.

Said he would be ridiculously expensive though.

Crouch also does well in the Champions League. It just seems that the Euopean style teams struggle most against him. The Premier League is full of big powerful centre backs though, which makes it harder for Crouch to impose himself. Compare the centre backs in Spain or Portugal for example and they're often players who like to play out from the back and play along the ground. Which is probably why Rocha never really suited the Premier League, especially coming up against big powerful centre forwards.

To be successful as a striker in England you either need to be really powerful (Tevez, Rooney, Drogba) or very technical (Torres, Berbatov, Van Persie), although world class strikers often possess both qualities. The trouble with Crouch is, for all his size he lacks power, while technically he is good but not great. So we really need someone who is one of the above or both. I've not seen Hulk much at all tbh so i'm not sure if he is that player.

the biggest problem with Crouch is he's a striker but he's got a shot on him like a 12 year old girl

if you're a striker and you can't shoot what's the fecking point

If he does come, i hope the shop sells replica shirts with his name on the back, with little rips and tears in the sleeves, and the hem frayed - that would look awesome

But that comes into the power category. He's clearly not powerful enough to smash shots past the keeper, same with his aerial ability. He gets no real power on his headers.

Looks unlikely...

Redknapp also ruled out moves for former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi and Porto striker ‘Hulk.’
“Giuseppe Rossi is a good player but he's not available,” Redknapp said. “Incredible Hulk? No, not going to happen. We're not close to doing anything.”

I'd take a risk on Hulk AND Rossi

Hulk's pace and strength would stretch defences, allowing more space for Rossi and VDV to exploit (not that they need EXTRA space)

This midfield/forward line up would be sex-tastic :hump: :

--------Hulk--------

Bale---Rossi---VDV

--Modric---Hudd----

Fuck it, just do it Levy!!

EDIT - oh, and we'd have Lennon, Pienaar and Defoe on the bench (midget reinforcements!!)

Of course the "Incredible Hulk" is not going to happen. It only exists in naive American heroism.

But the real Hulk might still happen; and if it does, Harry had not told a lie.

But Hulk plays wide and Rossi plays on the last shoulder. It would be:

Bale---VdV---Hulk

--Modric---Hudd----

So what do we need to do to make this happen? This is the guy that Harry needn't worry about spending Levy's dosh. 35m should do it!

Couldn't we just put Pav through some extreme gamma ray exposure?
Would be cheaper
