Porto are braced for a bid from Tottenham for their imposing striker Hulk as Harry Redknapp looks to improve his attacking options.

Spurs scouts have watched Hulk more than 30 times in the last two years - including on five occasions recently - according to reports in Portugal.

Redknapp has changed his preferred system at White Hart Lane to accommodate Rafael van der Vaart playing behind a lone striker and the Spurs boss is in the market for specialist centre forwards.

He is exploring loan-to-buy deals for Sevilla's Luis Fabiano and Roma's Mirko Vucinic, but both are also in the sights of Juventus and he could test the water with a bid for Porto's hotshot.
Brazil international Hulk has long been admired by Manchester City, but Roberto Mancini's capture of Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg closes the door on further attacking recruits for now.

Porto recently responded to interest in their 24-year-old by renegotiating his release clause up from £34million to £84m.

However, he is only half-owned by the runaway Portuguese League leaders, with investors controlling the other 50 per cent.

There is no appetite to cash in, especially in the middle of a successful season, but 24 goals in 27 games this season - including seven in his last five appearances - have not gone unnoticed by Europe's big clubs.

Tottenham are listening to offers for Robbie Keane and are also aware of interest in Roman Pavlyuchenko, while their £3m outlay on Everton's Steven Pienaar leaves them with money to spend.

However, Porto will see Aston Villa's £24m signing of Darren Bent from Sunderland as a reference point to inflate their demands for Hulk.

I've never been impressed with him when I have seen him play. Least skillful Brazilian attacker since Julio Baptista. Does have a thumping long shot though.

From the how to be ITK thread...
I am not ITK and have never claimed to be, but its true, levy is negotiating atm with a portoguese speaking player, if it doesnt happen in this window, he'll definetly be here in the summer. However the deal could be plugged by the team at any point as other clubs are in for him too, bayern in particular, but we really want this guy, he would be spurs' marquee signing and catalpult us to the "next level"! Dont shoot the messenger... ;)

P.S anyone else heard this?

P.S #2 - everything else is a bit quiet, not much else to say, except we are looking at a player from the blue square south, rushden and diamond lad, 5 years old - meant to be the next adel taarabt!

Hulk is 5'11, so not that big.

And he doesn't have enough games for Brazil to merit a permit....and at 24 is too old for special dispensation.
