Speaking to Le Parisien, Lloris said: “Tottenham were coming to the end of a cycle, and so was I. I knew that Tottenham wanted to recruit younger players, especially in my position.

“Summer was approaching and I was no longer part of the plans.

“When the championship resumed, in August 2023, the coach informed me that I would no longer enter the field, that I would only be a training player. I was pushed aside, I had become transparent.”

I'm sorry but I still regard his injury at HT vs Newcastle to be dubious.

We’d all seen the decline over the previous months and he’d have known he wasn’t performing to the level he’d expect from himself as well.
He’d have known a new manager coming in would have been looking to rebuild from the back.

Not sure what there is to see here - loved Hugo, but professional sports is supposed to be somewhat ruthless.

Joe Hart had the same complaint when he was pushed aside.

It's just the nature of the business, and perhaps more notable for keepers - because there is no easing out period. Other positions can simply see their minutes reduced, while a keeper is either a starter, or not playing.

Was World Class until he wasn’t. There is no permanence in football, but in time hopefully people forget the downfall.
